"We just finished an amazing week at this home. The house fit our needs perfectly with 3 sitting areas, enough bedrooms, grill and great kitchen space. Our favorite spots were the pool and sitting on the deck overlooking the inlet. It was so peacful watching the boats go by from the deck. We enjoyed the whole thing so much that we are looking to book the house again next summer!"

"i·dyl·lic: extremely happy, peaceful, or picturesque.
That's such a perfect word to describe our time in the Henkle House. Here's why:
Location - the best thing about this place is the proximity to the beach. You are about 100 steps to the gate that gets you onto the private beach. The owner left us plenty of wrist bands that private beach goers must use. Ocean Beach Park is 25 ft to the right of the private beach so there is super easy access.
Renovated house - the house has been recently renovated and belongs in the pages of a catalog. the owner went first class all the way - frontgate outdoor furniture, outdoor kitchen, pottery barn bedding, pier 1 accessories. I've never been in a rental that has been so carefully and beautifully decorated. So relaxing!
Great for kids - Ocean Beach Park kept the kids easily entertained, cloudy or sunny. mini-golf, splash park, amusement rides, beach, playground, digging for crabs. At the end of each day, we stuck all five kids (mostly toddlers) upstairs to sleep on the 3rd floor. There was a TV in there so they could watch a movie at the end of the day and fall asleep.
I honestly don't know why this area isn't jammed all summer long but I am grateful that it hasn't yet been discovered. This house was a perfect place for us - launching pad for Ocean Beach Park activities and relaxing for the granddad who preferred to read on the beautiful outdoor deck. We hope to come back for years to come."

Little House great lodging alternative for Uconn Parents visiting from out of town
"Last weekend my son graduated from the University of Connecticut, and I was lucky enough to find this great treasure of a house, with the most inviting outside deck facing the pond and secluded forest. In the morning we had coffee watching the birds and in the evening my family all sat up late stargazing. The house & property were so relaxing and comfortable! We usually stayed at a hotel when visiting UConn in the past, but they were always 30-40 mins away, and a bit dull. The Little house was 20 mins to campus and allowed us much better space than a hotel room ever could. The surrounding town of Pomfret, ~15 mins away, offered terrific and un-crowded options for dining. don't miss Rosie's Drive thru at the top of the road on your way in. The seafood was delicious.
My husband & I only regret we did not fine Eliza's wonderful hospitality sooner! She provided all manner of bath products for the very modern bathroom as well as TP, paper towels, garbage bags, etc and she even stocked the fridge with a bit of milk, muffins and coffee which was so nice. I heartily recommend this house to anyone looking for a calm and peaceful retreat in a beautiful and scenic part of Connecticut!"

"This is such a beautiful property! The view is just unbelievable. Waking up in the morning and having a cup of tea on the porch was such a great way for me to start my wedding day! The house itself is very cute with a Brady Bunch vibe. Very kitch and original 1960s. We loved it! My bed was very comfortable and we found everything we needed in the kitchen. Before the visit Kathy was great at communicating with me though unfortunately had to leave town before our arrival. We were left in the capable hands of Lisa and she showed us around the property and explained how everything worked before leaving us to the peace and quiet of this lovely home. I would definitely come back here if I needed another weekend away with a large group. Thanks for everything!"
