"The pictures don't do this house justice. It sits on a serene 7 acres. We spent most of our time just drinking coffee/wine, reading and hanging out with friends outside. The house itself is charming and full of big, beautiful windows that bring the outside in. We had a fabulous time and will stay again!"

"We had a large group for Thanksgiving and the property was perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed, there was space for all, and the views were terrific. Given the weather, we most enjoying the large and festive living room fire place. The photos don't show the bathrooms, which were all very nice. The house is close to Mystic and the train station, and yet we felt like we were really away from it all because of the tranquil river setting. My son and his friends enjoyed canoeing, even though it was cold. I bundled up and enjoyed morning coffee on the deck. It's easy to imagine how nice this house would be in the summer. Paul was great to work with and the property was very well maintained. I hope to return soon!"

"We booked this cabin as a base to spend time with family who live in the area. It is hard to describe the tranquillity, the peace and sheer beauty of the lake. To sit on the stone pier in rocking chairs and watch eagles flying overhead, gazing at a small branch drifting past and listening to the stillness, it was unforgettable. Hearing my aunts, uncle and cousins telling tales of learning to swim on the pond and of youthful adventures many years ago was a joy. It was magic gliding across the pond in the kayaks which are supplied by the owners. The cabin is extremely well kitted out, there is everything you could possibly need. The owners don't live nearby but we had a great welcome from their friend who lives next door...if you can call it that...maybe half a mile through the woods. Altogether a very special place."

"We were so happy to have discovered this beautiful gem in the CT countryside! The home is lovely -- both inside and out. If fact, the listing photos do not really do it justice. This is a gorgeous old house, lovingly restored and decorated with obvious care and talent. It is also a very comfortable house. From the moment you enter the mud room (the most gorgeous mud room I've ever seen) till you sink into the sumptuous down-filled pillows on the family room sofa, you will feel totally pampered. The bathrooms and bedrooms include quality linens and towels, and the kitchen is well-equipped and spacious enough for several cooks. And the dining room... well, the dining room is simply breathtaking!
Homeowner Sheila took the time to greet us on our arrival and show us the entire house, answering all of our questions and providing tips about where to eat out and what to see. My husband and I loved hiking down the surrounding country roads and at nearby Bee Brook, and exploring beautiful Litchfield. We visited White Flower Farms, The Glebe, and the Bellamy-Ferriday House. We wandered the shore of Lake Waramaug at dusk -- a beautiful sight indeed. And we may have over-indulged on the ice cream at Arethusa Farm and Dairy. :)
If you love the comfort and beauty, antiques and the outdoors, gardens and historic architecture, this is definitely the place for you!"
