  • Relaxing Long Weekend

"My wife and I stayed for a little bit less than a week during the Labor Day weekend. The house is bigger than it looks on the pictures. It is well maintained and had everything we needed for our stay. The host, Mary, is very nice and accommodating. The shore is a short walk away and if you don't want go to the beach, the house has a sizable backyard where you can just relax in one of the beach chairs. There is a seafood store with a great selection of fresh fish and seafood around the corner, a super market a five minute drive away and a couple of restaurants across the street. Things to do include local attractions such as Thimble Islands cruise, drive on the scenic I-146 and visiting local historic villages such as Essex. We enjoyed our stay very much and felt quite relaxed at the end. I hope we could stay longer."

  • Peaceful and charming

"We had a large group for Thanksgiving and the property was perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed, there was space for all, and the views were terrific. Given the weather, we most enjoying the large and festive living room fire place. The photos don't show the bathrooms, which were all very nice. The house is close to Mystic and the train station, and yet we felt like we were really away from it all because of the tranquil river setting. My son and his friends enjoyed canoeing, even though it was cold. I bundled up and enjoyed morning coffee on the deck. It's easy to imagine how nice this house would be in the summer. Paul was great to work with and the property was very well maintained. I hope to return soon!"

  • Wonderful family vacation!

"Do not hesitate to book this fantastic home! We had lovely family vacation for 18, ages 4-75. Fun for all! Easy drive to Stony Creek CT. Easy to park your car for few days. Quick ferry to the house. Home is beautiful. All bedrooms and baths are nicely done. Nice linens/bedding. Great, stocked kitchen (no microwave, no biggie). Wonderful decks for coffee and full meals while watching the sun set. Great little beach with kayaks. Plenty of room to roam, rocks to climb, places to relax. We took the Thimble Islands tour with Capt. Bob (fantastic), we ate dinner one night in Branford at Nataz, 10 minutes away, we sailed for few hours with Eric Treu at Sailworks (worth every penny), we rented 19ft boat for a week from docks in Guilford (totally worth it). One of the best family trips ever! Jeff was so accommodating and easy to work with. Rent it!"

  • Little House great lodging alternative for Uconn Parents visiting from out of town

"Last weekend my son graduated from the University of Connecticut, and I was lucky enough to find this great treasure of a house, with the most inviting outside deck facing the pond and secluded forest. In the morning we had coffee watching the birds and in the evening my family all sat up late stargazing. The house & property were so relaxing and comfortable! We usually stayed at a hotel when visiting UConn in the past, but they were always 30-40 mins away, and a bit dull. The Little house was 20 mins to campus and allowed us much better space than a hotel room ever could. The surrounding town of Pomfret, ~15 mins away, offered terrific and un-crowded options for dining. don't miss Rosie's Drive thru at the top of the road on your way in. The seafood was delicious. My husband & I only regret we did not fine Eliza's wonderful hospitality sooner! She provided all manner of bath products for the very modern bathroom as well as TP, paper towels, garbage bags, etc and she even stocked the fridge with a bit of milk, muffins and coffee which was so nice. I heartily recommend this house to anyone looking for a calm and peaceful retreat in a beautiful and scenic part of Connecticut!"
