"My family stayed here along with three other families (with lots of young children) for a long weekend. We had a blast. During the days we went apple picking nearby at Marsh Farm (hay rides, corn maze and pumpkin patch for the kids). We went hiking down country lanes, past lakes and through the woods which adjoin the property. Each night we cooked huge meals in the fully-equipt kitchen and ten of us ate in the impressive dining room. We did jigsaw puzzles in the huge living room and (attempted to) play the grand piano. My wife & I agreed that we would love to come back and do exactly the same weekend away next year (drivign 2 hr 15mins from our home in Brooklyn, NYC)."

"My husband and I & our two teen aged sons have been renting this cottage for a week or 2 for 4 summers. We love it! The location is perfect--a stone's throw from the beach (a 90 second walk) in a quiet friendly beachy neighborhood. There is a cottage feel to the house and at the same time its so nice to have a dishwasher, and a washing machine & dryer. The beds are comfortable. The house is always clean upon arrival & renters are expected to leave it clean for the next visitors. There's plenty of parking and plenty of space to hang out inside on the rare rainy day. The clean, sandy beach is rarely crowded--our family & friends are often the only people there during the week. There are plenty of restaurants & shopping very close by, and tourist attractions all within an hour's drive, if you can bear to leave the beach. The owners are very nice & accommodating. My husband & I have been renting in the neighborhood for decades & we just love this house & location."

"This lovely and spacious home perfectly suited our needs when we visited CT for a week for a family wedding. We shared the rental with my brother and his wife, and some of our grown children were also there. The house never felt overcrowded, even when we hosted an extended family dinner for about 25 people. The deck was superb - spacious, comfortable, with a killer view of the water. I particularly liked the clear barrier to the deck, which let us enjoy all of the view, all of the time. The kitchen proved to be fantastic for cooking, with all the necessary pots, pans and dishes, and even accommodated the creation of about 15 dozen wedding cupcakes. The beds were very comfortable, and the furnishings were all handsome. We loved having this base in New London, so close to our old family homestead in Groton. We'll be back!"

"i·dyl·lic: extremely happy, peaceful, or picturesque.
That's such a perfect word to describe our time in the Henkle House. Here's why:
Location - the best thing about this place is the proximity to the beach. You are about 100 steps to the gate that gets you onto the private beach. The owner left us plenty of wrist bands that private beach goers must use. Ocean Beach Park is 25 ft to the right of the private beach so there is super easy access.
Renovated house - the house has been recently renovated and belongs in the pages of a catalog. the owner went first class all the way - frontgate outdoor furniture, outdoor kitchen, pottery barn bedding, pier 1 accessories. I've never been in a rental that has been so carefully and beautifully decorated. So relaxing!
Great for kids - Ocean Beach Park kept the kids easily entertained, cloudy or sunny. mini-golf, splash park, amusement rides, beach, playground, digging for crabs. At the end of each day, we stuck all five kids (mostly toddlers) upstairs to sleep on the 3rd floor. There was a TV in there so they could watch a movie at the end of the day and fall asleep.
I honestly don't know why this area isn't jammed all summer long but I am grateful that it hasn't yet been discovered. This house was a perfect place for us - launching pad for Ocean Beach Park activities and relaxing for the granddad who preferred to read on the beautiful outdoor deck. We hope to come back for years to come."
