"If your looking for a quiet and elegant spot to gather 12 family members together of varying ages and interests, then you have found the spot. We spent a wonderful week in this lovely house enjoying each others company and relaxing in front of the ocean. Working out details with Barbara was easy and efficient and the photos of the house, the property and the area do not do it justice. There is plenty to do and see in the area and Central New York is accessible by train in 1 1/2 hours from New Haven. However, the best times were spent concocting meals in the modern kitchen and then enjoying them with much conversation and laughter around the large dinning table before moving to the covered porch to watch the sun set with coffee in hand. The time spent there will be talked about in our family for years to come!"

"We rented Betsey's property in July of 2015 for a week-long family reunion that ended with a small informal wedding ceremony and reception, and we could not have been happier with the entire experience! We had 14 adults and 2 children stay in the house during the week and we did not feel crowded or cramped at all. We have never done a full house rental before and we weren't sure what to expect, but everything that was promised in the original ad came exactly as advertised! We spent most of our time on the porch and on the beach, but our young nephews had a great time walking up the beach to the nearby playground. This is a very quiet, gentle neighborhood meant to relax and enjoy the ocean! We were also stunned by how beautiful our wedding photos are: the ocean and house looked like something from a movie!
We were also extremely impressed with how friendly and kind Betsey was both before our trip and throughout the week, even stopping by several times to see how we were doing and to find out if we needed anything. Considering that holding a wedding on the property is well outside the normal family beach vacation, Betsey was more than accommodating for us! Thank you for a beautiful place for us to make the memories that started our life together!"

"3 mature race fans who needed a quiet place to go after a long day at Lime Rock. Imagine our surprise when we saw the house for real and met the owner who is a race guy also. It just made the whole weekend. Comfortable with a country setting, just be careful if you have problems with stairs. The bedrooms are all upstairs and the steps are tight and steep."

"My boyfriend and I recently spent 4 wonderful days at Hatch Pond to celebrate my birthday and had the most lovely time. The Kent area is BEAUTIFUL! Everything was perfect and stress free and it was easy to get to from NYC. Tons of activities to keep us entertained like kayaking/canoeing on Hatch Pond and hiking on the Appalachian trail. The town of Kent is cute too and has shops and restaurants, but we really enjoyed just being in the cottage cooking, relaxing and unplugging from the world (though there is a TV with cable if you want!).
The cottage itself is great and well maintained--tons of modern fixtures, wifi, comfy beds and kitchen gadgets while still retaining a real country feel and charm. Even though it was summer it felt cool inside with the fans that we didn't even really use the window cooler. Huge bonus is the amazing garden that Michael, the owner, maintains. Nothing beats walking outside and picking some fresh basil right off the stalk and making a delicious pesto. Speaking of Michael, he is the best!!! He met us at the house, gave us the tour, told us about some of the local highlights and was there as needed. It's really obvious how much he loves the house and the Kent area, all of the great antiques lovingly displayed in the cottage are handpicked by him. You can even visit his antique shop The Bunkhouse to pick up a little treasure of your own to take home.
Overall, highly recommend this gem, would love to go back!"
