  • Our trip to the ocean

"We were attracted to this area because we could be at the ocean in less than an 8 hour drive from our home. Fans of "Daddy Jack's Cooking with the Blues" YouTube cooking classes, we also hoped to meet Jack Chaplin at his restaurant in New London. This rental property was very roomy and had everything we required. It was so nice that most kitchen staples were there for our use. It was pleasant sitting in the private back yard while our dinner grilled over the coals. The beach is 5 mins walk from the home--Ocean Park also has a swimming pool, water slide, mini putt, and events like movie night and live bands. Fun things we did included: ferry to Block Island and seeing the sites by moped, shopping and eating in Mystic seaport, drove to NYC to visit the 9/11 museum. A vacation with a bit of everything!"

  • A Little Slice of Heaven

"We just had our best vacation ever and it was because of this truly perfect home located on a stunning location. It's difficult not to overuse superlatives here. Our hosts did everything possible to make it so. Outstandingly clean, attractively furnished and fully equipped in every way - everything was done to insure we had a wonderful time. And we certainly did. Our children loved the beach and lived there for the week. We found ourselves caught up in the spectacular views - dawn and dusk - from the back deck where we had most of our meals. Descriptions do not do this home justice . And there is so much to do in this part of the state - museums, restaurants, antiques, shopping, beach towns to explore - just a short drive away. A quick tip: be sure to go to Captain Scott's in New London for the complete harbor side lobster experience. All we can say is that our stay was ideal in every way and our hosts were uncommonly generous. We'd go back in a heartbeat!!"

  • Enjoyed Our Stay

"Family vacation at this home was great; very quiet neighborhood, plenty of room for all of us (7 adults and 3 children)! Tons of bath towels! There were 2 TVs in the main living space which was great for the children to watch their shows while the adults watched theirs. A couple of the bedrooms also had tvs. Yard was big enough for the children to play in and with the use of lawn chairs and our beach chairs, we made a "fence" so the children and their ball did not go over the "cliff". Met a friendly neighbor who gave us insight into restaurants and beach areas. This house is not on what I would call a beach, there is no sand and although you could get into the water from the shore, it was difficult for the children (4 and younger) who ended up with many scratches, bruises and bleeding knees. Husband and children loved going out in the kayak! We all loved spending time sitting on the porch overlooking the Sound. It would be helpful if there was a book of directions to restaurants and/or menus, directions to local grocery areas and local beaches. Would also be helpful if you had a cabinet or two available for guests to put their food and kitchen items in. Fran was very easy to work with and very accommodating! Thanks Fran!"

  • Relaxing Long Weekend

"My wife and I stayed for a little bit less than a week during the Labor Day weekend. The house is bigger than it looks on the pictures. It is well maintained and had everything we needed for our stay. The host, Mary, is very nice and accommodating. The shore is a short walk away and if you don't want go to the beach, the house has a sizable backyard where you can just relax in one of the beach chairs. There is a seafood store with a great selection of fresh fish and seafood around the corner, a super market a five minute drive away and a couple of restaurants across the street. Things to do include local attractions such as Thimble Islands cruise, drive on the scenic I-146 and visiting local historic villages such as Essex. We enjoyed our stay very much and felt quite relaxed at the end. I hope we could stay longer."
