  • Relaxing Long Weekend

"My wife and I stayed for a little bit less than a week during the Labor Day weekend. The house is bigger than it looks on the pictures. It is well maintained and had everything we needed for our stay. The host, Mary, is very nice and accommodating. The shore is a short walk away and if you don't want go to the beach, the house has a sizable backyard where you can just relax in one of the beach chairs. There is a seafood store with a great selection of fresh fish and seafood around the corner, a super market a five minute drive away and a couple of restaurants across the street. Things to do include local attractions such as Thimble Islands cruise, drive on the scenic I-146 and visiting local historic villages such as Essex. We enjoyed our stay very much and felt quite relaxed at the end. I hope we could stay longer."

  • LOVED everything.

"We - 3 moms and 3 girls 4-5 years old had an absolutely amazing time at this wonderful property for our annual Girls Week. Everything was great, I have not a single thing to complain about (save the noisy bullfrog day and night and the too tiny coffee maker!). The house is lovely... the game room a delight... the toys and beach accoutrements more than we could dream of. The sandy beach has a very gradual slope just perfect for young swimmers. We loved kayaking around the lake. We loved the fire pit. The owner provided so many tips and maps, etc and it was wonderful. We loved it all! Just awesome!"

  • Exquisite

"Our family has visited the Hidden Valley Bed & Breakfast several times now, and each time, we are amazed at how it was just as good as we remembered it. The house is so comfortable. Fluffy down pillows, comfy blankets, luxurious marble bathrooms, and elegant living quarters with a cozy fire going on winter nights. The house itself is absolutely stunning -- it is colonial meets modern so that it is comfortable, and very, very clean, while still offering you the feeling of visiting a historic part of the country. The grounds are beautiful isolated up a very long drive and on a hill, with the rolling hills bordering on local farms. Best of all, your hostess, Regine, is absolutely charming and lovely. We will definitely be returning again."

  • CT getaway

"Just returned from a too short stay in this cozy cabin. Top of the line, all-around-want-for-nothing place to enjoy a fantastic view of the lake, cook a gourmet meal, lounge in front of the stone fireplace, read, bird watch, explore and hike nearby. Although we didn't actually get on or into the lake, we are dreaming about it in a return visit. Every detail is for comfort, convenience and enjoyment. You can feel the love and care that makes this a very special place. Some hikes: Mashamoquet Brook SP, Natchaug State Forest, Mansfield Hollow SP, Bafflin Sanctuary, Airline Trail, James L. Goodwin State Forest. This would be a great home base to explore Connecticut's quiet corner."
