  • Fun for the Whole Family

"As we approached Fenwick Island we started seeing beautiful signs about "a beach resort community like no other". Little did we know they were talking about Bayside, home of the Duffers Escape. After having enjoyed the townhouse for a week, I'm pleased to share the tagline is accurate indeed! We settled in nicely thanks to the owner's informative FAQ and welcome booklet. We were pleased to find a playground, tennis courts, ping pong, basketball court and pools right across the street that came with our economical amenity package. We never had to wait in any sort of line to play any sports, so we really did have a ball:) The pool, patio lunch area and bar were also never busy and well managed by the friendly staff. Our trip had many highlights, but one was walking the first night to The Cove restaurant for dinner. We sat outside to enjoy the live music playing next door at the amphitheater and allow the kids to enjoy the lawn before dinner was served. The evening ended on a good sweet note by roasting smores under the stars at their fire pit surrounded by water. We enjoyed ourselves so much we did this our last night too! When we weren't enjoying the resort we drove to Fenwick island beach, Bethany and Rehobeth to spend a day or two each. Thanks to the house, we had all the sand chairs and umbrellas we could ever want. Everything was in good shape and quite handy. Nights were spent in the well stocked kitchen enjoying dinner followed by movies on the enormous TVs on every floor. We were two families with a total of four kids and I am confident that we would all return with pleasure to the Duffers Escape."

  • Great Vaction, Great Resort , Will Be back

"Dave Pictures do not do justice for this townhouse. It was great. My wife and child stayed with my In-laws. There was tons of room the place was spotless. It was ready to move in as soon as we got there. Everything was in order from the Passes at the front office to getting in with the detailed combo lock. Internet was easy to hook up to and all those decks made viewing the complex wonderful. Great kitchen, modern appliances easy tv directions. The only thing that would have liked would be a combo outside for the garage. There was a garage door on the inside , but once the door was closed you had to walk around front. But I am being really pickey here. It really wasn't that big of a deal. I have seen were others talk about all the flight of stairs , and that is true , there is a lot . However it is layed out to accommodate more people and make for more room. I personally was ok with the layout. We loved the closeness to the pool, tennis court, and listening to the concerts on the back deck. Also how easy it was to keep in touch with Dave if we had any questions or concerns. if your looking for your next vaction get away. Make sure you look at Bayside and Daves place."

  • Lovely and spacious bayside condo

"This was our first stay in a condominium and everyone was blown away with how nice and spacious the condo was. We had 8 adults and a two year old with plenty of space for everyone. It was really nice having 4 full bathrooms and 4 bedrooms so everyone had privacy and more than adequate accommodations. The view of the bay and Ocean City was great with Herons and Egrets walking just outside the condo. Fireworks could be seen in OC in the evening but from a serene distance. Morning coffee and evening drinks were enjoyed on the balcony. We even had relatives visit and there was room to eat for 14. Parking was great and there are 3 restaurants next door. We visited the boardwalk in OC but were relieved to return to the peace and quiet of the condo. It is 10 minutes from the Fenwick Island state park on a busy day and a 1/2 hr drive to Assateague Island. The kitchen has full utensils including an electric pancake griddle, a blender, coffee maker, and Keurig machine. Being able to wash the beach towels every night was a big plus. All the rooms had cable TV and WiFi internet access. Everything seemed clean and well maintained. The only thing the condo lacked was an elevator but the stairs to the living area and the bedrooms were wide enough to allow easy access when carrying luggage. This is a very pleasant relaxing place to vacation near the shore."

Fenwick Island Travel Tips

Spend Your Time on Fenwick Island

Delaware’s Fenwick Island is a small resort town that sits on a barrier island situated between Little Assawoman Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The most southwestern of the state’s beaches, the location allows you and your family so many options on what to do. Whether you want to go out and do it all or stay relaxed and have fun in the sun, Fenwick Island is your perfect vacation destination. The year-round community welcomes visitors through every season of the year. Let us give you a few tips and suggestions to planning the perfect vacation to Fenwick Island.

Book Fenwick Island Vacation Rentals Instead of Hotels

When it comes to booking Fenwick Island vacation rentals instead of a hotel, the choice is clear. When you stay in a rental, you can avoid the hassle of staying where crowds of other people are also staying. You will have your own private haven. Depending on your personal style and preferences, you can book a variety of accommodations including villas, houses, or even condos. You can even rent a sprawling beachfront estate! When you avoid the hotels, you not only avoid the tourists but you achieve complete control over your vacation. You decide your own schedule.

Helpful Travel Tips

Staying in Fenwick Island condos can really be a lot of fun but there are a few things to keep in mind when planning your trip. Though Fenwick Island is known for its beautiful beaches and as a prime vacation destination, it does have about 400 year-round residents. During peak vacation season, the population can grow to exceed 5,000 people! That means the one major road (Delaware Route 1) can get quite crowded. Parking is also limited so always be prepared.

Something for Everyone on Fenwick Island

It is undeniable. Everyone that visits Fenwick Island will have the time of their lives! The Atlantic Coast of Delaware is meant for every member of your family. The shopper, the surfer, the sun goddess--you name it, they'll be happy there! Additionally, there are historic sites, natural parks, and plenty of beaches to spend your days. And anyone staying in a Fenwick Island accommodation is just minutes away from the fun!

Nature Activities on the Island

As we have mentioned, there is plenty to do on Fenwick Island. For nature-lovers, bird-watching is a must, especially at the Delaware Seashore State Park. Along the bay, you will find a number of salt marshes that are home to ducks, geese, spot osprey, loons, herons, and even bald eagles! And if birds are not enough, consider whale-watching! You can book a tour to catch a glimpse of the whales but you may also get lucky enough to see a Humpback right from the shore!

Outdoor Fun on Fenwick Island

There is no question that plenty of your vacation on Fenwick Island will be spent outdoors. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the northeast can be found in Delaware vacation rentals which makes fun in the sun a requirement. If you love watersports you are in luck. Spend your days jet skiing, waterskiing, parasailing, kayaking, sailing, wind surfing, and swimming. You might even consider renting a kayak or boat for a little family adventure. For the avid fisherman, there is no shortage of crabbing and fishing either!

Sights to See

New England is a beautiful place and Fenwick Island is no exception. With plenty of historic sites along the way, you can see historic homes, museums, and old lighthouses. It is possible to book a tour of the regions to see the sights which is a wonderful way to spend the day. One place that should be on the top of your list is the Costen House Museum and Rose Garden. The preserved Victorian home is a short distance away in Pocomoke City, Maryland. If you would like to stay a little closer to your rental, check out the DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum on Ocean Highway. You and the kids will enjoy free admission to view a plethora of artifacts from various shipwrecks from the 17th through 19th centuries.
