Mother/son historic getaway
"Old house in a beautiful neighborhood provided an authentic experience. We stayed here in spring. 4 mothers and 4 teenage boys. Convenient to the capitol, supreme court and library of congress. And close to union station for more distant destinations and bus tours. Moms loved having their own rooms. Boys took over the living room. House was clean and well stocked. Surprisingly quiet at night. The kitchen and baths were nice and well equipped, but small. The staircases were steep and the floors were creaky. If stairs are a problem, choose a hotel. If you love old houses like I do, you won't mind."

"We loved the Art Gallery Apartment! It was just elegant enough with super comfy beds and just the right amenities. The towels smelled awesome - so wish I knew what they washed them in:) The main room is very large, very well appointed and comfortable. The kitchen is small but has everything you need. The stack washer and dryer was great too. After a very hot day of sightseeing washing our clothes was a great perk. It is in a very pretty, safe area, too. The apartment is best for just four people.
Anything we asked of our host he provided immediately. He dropped in to say hello - but wasn't overbearing at all.
The parking area in the back is very small. We had a Chevy Traverse and gave up on getting it in there, so our host got us a street parking pass quickly. We were told many larger cars than ours have successfully gotten in there but we don't know how. The traffic in DC was horrible and often we said we should have just planned on taxi's or the metro because it would have been easier. Parking near the monuments / Smithsonian, etc. is next to impossible. The apartment isn't close enough to walk to those places, but the taxi ride would not be very expensive. The apartment is an easy drive from downtown though if you do have a car - just rent a smaller one:)
The deck is great though we didn't spend much time on it, so busy running around to wedding festivities."

"Very nice house with a home feeling. Rooms had comfortable beds. Loved the gas appliances. The house is in a good location not far from the metro. The owner was very helpful and gave us the hot spots to go near by. Would love to stay again."
