Wonderful place to stay
"I stayed in this apartment for 7 weeks while in DC on business and it was terrific. The apartment is clean, comfortable and exactly as it looks in the photos. It has everything you need to have an easy and relaxed stay and Kristina is friendly and extremely helpful, even to the point of recommending a hairdresser! As others have said, it's a wonderful location, close to the Metro and on 3 metro lines which means waiting for trains to the city is minimal. it's also an easy walk to Union Station and a comfortable walk to supermarkets not to mention being only a couple of blocks away from Eastern Market. Given it's central location, if you're out at night it's only a short cab ride home from the city centre. I felt very safe here and did a lot of great walking to the Mall and beyond and really enjoyed what a beautiful area it is. I would highly recommend this apartment and will be back when I return to DC."

"Pilgrim Quarters was a great property for our family of four, we really enjoyed our stay here in DC. The apartment was spacious, affordable, well decorated, and had great character. The neighborhood is in transition, with some nicer restaurants located nearby on the "H Street Corridor". Our kids were exposed to living in a true urban environment, which was one of our goals. However, we felt quite safe walking in the neighborhood. We were a few blocks away from a large grocery store, and we took advantage of that by eating a few meals at the apartment.
Regarding the amenities: the Wi-Fi worked as promised (very important to our teens). The Washer wasn't working properly, so we had to hand-wring clothes prior to drying (this was really the only inconvenience, since we were on the 2nd week of a two-week vacation). The kitchen was well suited for actually making a few meals, and eating-in. The Bus stop was right around the corner, which took us to the National Mall area. We had great communication with the property owners ahead of time, which fully prepared us for our stay. All-in-all, there was plenty of room for us to stretch out and relax here after several full days of exploring Washington D.C. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone looking for an affordable, comfortable stay in the Capital!"

"We stayed a few nights in April for our first trip to DC. We found the apartment charming and comfortable. The neighborhood is beautiful, and located close to the Eastern Market and restaurants, Union Station and the Mall. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. We would stay here again!"

"Honestly, this was not our first choice in property/location, but we were happy with how it worked out. It was pretty much spot on with what we expected from the description and other reviews. Sherman was very helpful in getting us settled and making sure we had everything we needed. The house has quite a bit of character, and we were impressed with how quiet it was. The kitchen indeed had pretty much everything we needed and appliances were all in good shape. Beds were comfortable. There's a parking pass available for on-street parking, as well as room for one car off street in the back (you may be able to squeeze 2 smaller cars in the back, but its tight).
The street does have a bit of a rough appearance with bars on the windows...but overall we felt safe. The walk to the New York Ave (NoMa-Gallaudet) Metro station was an easy one. The Harris Teeter was also within walking distance and a perfectly safe walk, especially if you stick to Florida Ave which leads into a much nicer neighborhood as you head east than if you walk south on North Capitol which maintains a rougher feel and has more people hanging around the sidewalks. Getting to Union Station or the Capitol Building would be a bit more of a hike if walking, but still technically doable. We stuck to the Metro.
There don't seem to be a lot of nice eat in places nearby, although we didn't look too hard. There's plenty of fast food options within walking distance...as well as a great BBQ place we hit up the night of our arrival, DCity Smokehouse, just around the corner.
Only a couple of negatives. The back porch seemed a bit shaky, and I wouldn't have been comfortable having more than 1 or two people on it. I do believe someone was coming by the morning of our departure to look at it though, so that may be getting addressed. We had some issues getting the 2nd floor comfortable on a couple of the nights after what was probably the first hot days of the season. Sherman responded to me very quickly when I texted him about it...and was willing to come right over and look at the A/C, although we had him wait until the morning since we had kids already asleep. I'm not sure if he found any issue as we weren't there during the day, but it may have had more to do with the programming of the thermostat than the A/C itself. Ultimately blocked some of the 1st floor vents which seemed to make the 2nd floor more comfortable.
So despite a couple of small things we had a very pleasant stay!"
