  • Fantastic townhouse, perfect location!

"This house will meet all your expectations! We stayed here for two months (Jan-Feb 15') and could not be more happy. The description and pictures are very accurate. There is plenty of light with floor to ceiling windows in most rooms. The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything you need. We really appreciated the gas fireplace in the living room during the cold months. Unfortunately, we didn't get to use the amazing two-floor terrace as it has been covered in snow during our stay, but we can ensure future guests they won't be disappointed. Mary is a wonderful person, who has gone out of her way to make sure our stay has been pleasant (she even shipped us a box of juicy oranges from Florida when we were feeling down about the weather!). But what we have appreciated the most, is it's prime location. The house is located on a quiet street, but at the same time you will find everything you need within walking distance (restaurants, shops, bars, the Metro). We can truly recommend renting Mary's house."

  • Everything was great!

"Me and my family (5) had a great time in DC and the apartment was perfect for us, close to the subway station, U street, bars and restaurants. The condo is very nice. The bed is super comfortable, the sleeping sofa not so much, but the air mattress and the rolling bed are comfortable too. The kitchen has everything that you need to cook. The internet connection is very slow, but this is minor issue, when you are on vacations. We will definitely stay here again."

  • Perfect Capitol Hill Getaway

"We loved everything about this snug little townhome. The location was perfect - just a few blocks from the Eastern Market, which is a great destination in and of itself, or you can walk a few blocks the other direction and explore the museums and monuments around the Mall. The neighborhood was quiet, with lots of settled families and dog parks, which kept my dog-crazy daughters very pleased. Best of all, though, the townhome itself was warm, well decorated, and super clean. I've stayed in some rentals that felt like rentals. This one felt like a home, and we would absolutely stay here again."

  • Great stay

"This was a really nice place to stay for our long weekend seeing friends get married in DC. really affordable price that was much appreciated. Everything was clean and ready for us as described. There was toilet paper, enough utensils, knives, pots etc for light cooking. Great grocery store and anything else needed on 14th st. We cooked, used the dishwasher, even had time to enjoy the in house laundry machine! Upstairs neighbor made a lot of noise at night. (Yoga? Jogging in place? Rearranging furniture?) but we used earplugs and it wasn't a problem and never lasted past 10 or 11. Only thing I'd note that I didn't see anyone else mention has nothing to do with the accommodations. The neighborhood appears to be going through a major flux due to the gentrification going on in Columbia Heights and surrounding areas. We did not feel unsafe at any time but we did receive hostile looks when walking around and noticed that the luxury restaurants over on 11th really stand out, especially if you walk a few blocks further east (we went over to Georgia ave on Sunday morning to check out a recommended coffee shop...whoa. Guy in deli was threatening the cashier and saying he would take us all hostage and blood would be spilt because he didn't want to pay the plastic bag tax. When we left that deli, another woman was arrested before our eyes a block away.) This kind of hard line between wealth and poverty is going on in all the big american cities right now obviously, so it's nothing new for most of us; but good to be aware what kind of vibe you are stepping into and to act accordingly with your best manners and conscientious behavior so as not to stir things up any further. There is definitely a lot of history in this area."
