  • Excellent property

"We stayed in this property for 3 nights. 1) It's an excellent location on capitol hill and as I learnt in million dollar neighborhood. There is a park right in front. Loved it. 5 star for this. 2) I's bit far if you want to walk to US Capitol, and train station. We ended up calling yellow cab which only charged just under $10. 3) Townhome itself has plenty of space including a small backyard. There are actually 2.5 bath. However as adverstised, one bath has tub and no standing shower but other one has standing shower. Apart from hand soap, there were no other toliteries in the bathroom - may be it's expected in vacation rental. 4 Star for this. 3) It's rated as luxury but linen, towels, utensils in the kitchen, and some furniture were no way close to luxury. Who does chocolate/brown towels? Cooking PANs in kitchen are showing signs of long aging. Compare this with luxury 4 or 5 star hotels and it's linen etc. 3 to 3.5 star for this. Overall we loved that stay. We loved the location, closeby park, and convenience of kitchen."

"Within the center of poliical life and yet easily accessible to all major roads. Loved the off street parking and the close proximity to the Waterside Metro station. Facility is well stocked and has great wi-fi and TV availability. Beds were comfortable and kitchen very functional. This is my fifth time staying here and I will certainly make it a sixth in the near future."

  • 1st timers using VRBO

"I'm going to be all over the place but first I have to say...We LOVED our place. Parking spot below bldg a +. Gotta be honest - read all the reviews first. This unit is very sound and quiet with concrete walls, floors and ceiling (not like a hotel where you can hear people in the next room or kids running down the halls, or their doors 'slamming'). The building is newer and modern. Super nice people that you meet in passing too. There were a couple things with the unit I of course would do differently if I owned it. The bathroom ceiling fan - doesn't work worth crap - so you have to have a door open (there's two leading into the BA). I would have more towel hooks up to for convenience. The stackable washer/dryer is in a closet in the bath and if you run them, it makes it hotter in that compact space. There should be a vent on the door or above the door for that closet so the heat escapes and has ventilation. They have extra linens and towels in the master closet which came in handy. The unit can sleep 6.. without blowing up the Air bed (we did not pull it out). The hideabed is queen size and the rollaway bed (which is pretty cool the way they have it set up) is an oversized twin or maybe a full bed. My youngest slept on that and it was perfect for her. Another person could of slept on the cream leather couch but that wasn't needed. I did notice for a place that sleeps 6, there were only 5 pillows (and 1 of the 5 is really flat). The building itself is in a (how do I say..) not so nice 'area' but the 'area' definitely has potential AND I believe is in the process of being 'fixed up'. You can't control how other owners take care of their properties. But ignore it! Seriously... This unit is close to SO MANY restaurants that start about 2 blks away. The Metro Subway is 1 blk (U street - African/American) away. I recommend a restaurant a few blks from the unit called Match Box. Perfect for families... excellent menu. And that was a recommendation from a couple we asked at a corner waiting to cross the street! Superb. Anyway, Consider this unit. We will return when we visit again. BRING Tennis shoes and have your sites and destinations mapped out on where you'd like to go. Write your congressman in advance to visit the White House, State Capitol and BEP (Bureau of engraving & printing). MY KIDS LOVED IT ALL! This unit made it easy for us and we looked forward to 'collapsing' when we got back. OH! The PH (roof) is also spectacular. Enjoy your visit!!"

Stay in the Capital of the United States of America at Washington DC Vacation Rentals

With Dulles International, Ronal Reagan National and Thurgood Marshall all within a short distance of Washington DC condos and homes, vacationers will have an easy time getting to the nation’s capital. This historic city is the home of America’s federal government. Once here, visitors often find it more convenient to use the city’s excellent public transport system than fighting the traffic and finding convenient parking. There is also a new bus service, the DC Circular, connecting the various neighborhoods. The city is pedestrian-friendly with a variety of jogging and biking routes throughout the area.

Book Your Tour of the White House

Washington DC vacation homes offer up loads of sightseeing opportunities, but the White House is probably at the top of your list. Many visitors here come to tour the historic sites, including the White House. To organize a tour of this building, contact your senator or member of congress. Tours are taken in groups of 10 or more, and smaller groups or families will be able to join another. It is advisable to put in your request six months before your visit. The minimum notice is one month. Visitors should be aware of security arrangements for the White House and remember that there are firm restrictions as to what can be taken into the building. While here, other tours include visiting congress in session and seeing how the nation’s laws are created. You can also view how currency is printed at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. At the National Archive, visitors can view the most important documents in America, such as the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Emancipation Proclamation, the Louisiana Purchase and the Magna Carta.

Washington DC condos are surrounded by famous landmarks. Visitors to Washington DC house rentals may find visits to the incredible memorials to Lincoln and Jefferson, the moving Vietnam Veterans memorial, and the inspirational Marine Corps War Memorial a great start to a trip. These are conveniently located within a short walk of most vacation rentals. Other memorials include ones dedicated to the Air Force, U.S. Navy, Korean War, World War II and, of course, the Washington Memorial. Take time to visit the Holocaust Memorial Museum, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, George Washington’s former home at Mount Vernon, and, the International Spy Museum--one the children will love. At Arlington, visit the former home of Robert E. Lee and the cemetery where the nation’s heroes are laid to rest. Visit Ford’s Theater, the sight of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.
