  • Near metro

"The apartment was very clean and only 1 block from the metro. We did not rent a car for our stay and found traveling in DC very easy. The apartment is very small and can barely accomadate 3 people. Would recommend 2 adults and maybe a small child. We enjoyed several restaurants in the neighborhood within walking distance. Security was very good and we felt safe in the neighborhood."

  • Perfect Family Getaway!

"I can't say enough positive things about our stay in this location. My family (including 3 kids and 3 dogs) loved every moment we spent at our "home away from home" and everyone was very comfortable. Since there were 2 futons in the living room, we put a teenager on each one, moved the coffee table aside for a blow-up mattress for our preteen, and my husband and I each had our own bedroom - very unusual for us, but I admit I slept like a baby the whole week. The bathrooms were more spacious than anything we have at our own house, and the half-bath was very convenient, especially when we first walked in after a day touring the town! Also, we were very confident that our car was safe because of the fenced in/locked backyard. Talk about a great location! The grocery store was only 2 blocks away, making it very easy to walk to. Tons of great restaurants were in the neighborhood (I HIGHLY recommend the tiny little Ecuadorian/Southern Mexican place about a block south on 11th!!) And we were easily able to pack some bottles of water and snacks every morning to walk downtown for sightseeing purposes. Nothing was out of reach by our own foot power, allowing us a chance to see the city in a whole new way. Rather than drive past shops, we could browse and enjoy the uniqueness of each neighborhood we went through. Our dogs weren't overly thrilled about the hardwood floors because their feet kept slipping, but they eventually got used to them and managed just fine. They did, however, adore the fenced in backyard and the back porch. They are all Chihuahuas and rarely go outside at home, but they thoroughly enjoyed laying outside in the sun while we planned our day or relaxed in the evening. Not only was everything clean and in great order for our arrival, but Rachel was wonderful about helping with the one situation that arose (the internet connection was out and she was able to fix that within minutes). She was very accommodating and friendly, and she really knows how to make a place feel like home to her guests. I loved the stockpile of pillows, blankets, sheets and towels in the master bedroom closet! There may be less expensive places to stay in D.C. but (in my opinion) you tend to get what you pay for. In this case, my family and I are glad we opted for this rental!"

  • Exceeded expectations

"Photos made the property look a bit darker and more cramped than it was. Walked into a light, spacious, efficient, clean condo in an upcoming gentrified area. Lots of panhandlers on U-street: probably because they do get a lot of donations due to the demographic. One day we walked back from the Smithsonians via the wonderful Giant supermarket on 7th and O street. Wide safe streets. Electronics took a little work with copious remotes, but there was everything you would need for TV-AVOD, wireless internet etc Even the bed folded up electronically. There is no tea/ coffee, and a little soap/ shampoo/ conditioner to tide you over the first night. Maybe a little small for 6 people (one bathroom and one set of house keys) - takes a bit of organising if you split up during the day for touring. Laundry facilities a huge bonus, appliances that work well, quiet inside the building and on the street (something that we have struggled with in our last 2 accommodations), and a great shower with no issues (one place we stayed at, the shower took 10-12 minutes of water running to heat up). Wouldn't recommend the Soul Food restaurant around on U-Street called Oohs and Aahs which was Zagat rated for the last 4 or so years, and on Guy Fieri's show (3Ds). We walked in and felt too guilty to leave after seeing all this food, stewing in Bain Maries behind the counter. Quite expensive for basically fried and overcooked food. Very slow service (25 minutes on a Monday night to order and receive takeout), although friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again. The apartment building is tenanted with quiet, private (but friendly) people, so not sure I would recommend families with children/ teens, unless they are quiet too."

  • Perfect DC location for the Mall and Beyond -- Great amenities and amazing owner

"My only hesitation in writing this review is that word will get out and this property will be booked for my next trip to D.C. The home is beautiful, spacious, clean, equipped with tons of little things to make your stay pleasant (e.g. an umbrella, lots of games for the kids to play, metra cards ready for you to charge, a safeway card... really the most 'at home' place we've ever stayed). The owner was incredibly responsive, even on weekends. Thanks, Deborah! The location is fantastic--not a long walk to the mall, and an even shorter walk to the green line to go to the mall or convention center. Starbucks and cafe two blocks away. Easy walk down to the crazy but delicious open-air fish market."
