  • needed a "very good" star

"WE stayed at this property over Thanksgiving, and it was the perfect place for a Thanksgiving dinner! I have never stayed at a property that had a kitchen any better equipped for a large family dinner. And the pool was better heated than any other, also. The lanai was our go-to place for lunches and most dinners, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We love Davenport, and stay there at least twice a year and have for the last 10 yrs or so, so we've been in a lot of properties. Highland Reserve is great for a family get together, for golf, for walking, etc., and is close to everything...even a Starbucks. That being said, this property has a few "glitches". it IS NOT IN ANY WAY WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE. We needed two ramps to get a chair into the house, and had to have plywood cut to allow the chair access to the lanai. The house itself is certainly accessible, being on one floor and nicely tiled throughout. The master bedroom suite works wonderfully for a wheelchair, too. It does not have the advertised golf course view unless you walk down the street and look through someone's yard. It is really not set up for children and the Wii is on an old TV in the closet of the smallest room (should be in the sitting area in the entry?) which would barely allow one person room to play. The washer/dryer unit is pretty old and there are no toys, games, anything in the garage as most houses have. And some of the molding in the bathrooms is rotted. As I said, minor things but should be mentioned. So, all in all it is a very comfortable property, and if pool and hot tub/eating or reading outdoors is your thing, this one fills the bill to a "T". Adults, teens and supervised youngers will LOVE the pool and spa, and I would suggest renting a grill if you are doing a lot of eating in. Even in the rain, you can sit/read/eat under the roof of the lanai, and continue to enjoy the warmth. It is a very good value for the rent asked."

  • My Family's First Disney Vacation

"The condo was just right for my family of five and I'm glad I found it. We enjoyed staying there very much, despite a couple issues. The condo was so much nicer than hotel rooms or a suite (which likely would have been too small, anyway). The kids enjoyed playing with the foosball and pool tables. The wi-fi worked flawlessly. The condo was VERY clean and well stocked with towels. The beds were comfortable for the kids. No complaints from me. There were a couple of downsides, if I'm being honest. Our stay at the condo was marred by the fridge and freezer, which ruined over $100.00 in food. I don't know whether there was a problem with the unit, or it's turned off between visitors. Whatever the case may be, it took two days for it to cool down and actually freeze anything. Management (David?) was called, no other complaints had been made prior to our arrival and, to the extent I'm aware, nothing was done. There may not have been anything wrong with the unit. Management should anticipate renters using the freezer/'fridge and leave it on. I was pretty upset about the waste of food and money because of this. The other thing I'd like to bring up is the matter of checking-in at the resort. Is it mandatory, or optional? The property description wasn't clear but, if I'm being honest, it's a question I should have asked before our arrival. Once you check in, you're locked into paying the resort fee for each day you're renting the condo. Paying the full resort fee was not an option, nor was it something you could pay just for a single day you accessed the "resort". Your kids will enjoy the pools, water slides and lazy river (all of which were clean). However, if it had been up to me, I would have skipped it in favor of the nice, quiet clubhouse pool near the condo. The property is very conveniently located. Grocery stores are nearby as well as restaurants and shopping (everything's on state route 192, to the north). It's a very short drive to Disneyworld and not that far to Universal Studios. Kennedy Space Center is an hour away (bring change for the tollways!). Overall we really enjoyed the condo and would gladly rent it again for another vacation. I don't hesitate to recommend this property to friends. On balance, we had a very good experience!!!"

  • March Break Golf Camp

"This was a wonderful process from reserving the property, our stay, and to our departure. The property was as advertised and was a great layout for a Golf Team trip (1 Adult, 8 teenagers). The golf course is across the street. We had one very small item that was resolved faster than most 5 star hotels!! A very professional, well kept property that was close to everything. I'll certainly return for the next camp."
