"We had a wonderful time at My Mickey House. We rented the town house for a month, but it wasn’t long enough. I could go on forever writing about the fantastic month we had. Everything was perfect. Staying in a gated resort was wonderful. We always felt safe and the guards were always so friendly. We enjoyed everything the resort had to offer, even the entertainment in the club house on some late afternoons. The town house was very clean and so nicely decorated. I couldn’t believe how Kris thought about everything that might be needed. We have stayed at quite a few vacation properties and by far My Mickey House was the best. We enjoyed our afternoon walks, sitting on the swing in the park behind the house, and visiting the theme parks. We also got to visit Celebration and make a day trip to Cocoa Beach. Our family from St. Petersburg even came to visit for an afternoon. Our son and his family visited over the President’s Day weekend. The house was plenty big enough to hold all eight of us. Our granddaughters just loved the Mickey Mouse bedroom. To have a television in their room and very own bathroom was beyond wonderful for them. Our 16 month old grandson had a great time running on the path in the park behind the house. All three of the grandchildren loved the heated private pool. They couldn’t believe that the pool was all theirs. Our family made many wonderful memories during our stay, and we’d like to say thanks to Kris for giving us this opportunity. We’d also like to thank Kris for being so helpful, answering questions we had, and for being so professional. Because of the weather in the northeast, we weren’t able to leave on the date planned, and Kris allowed us to extend our stay by two days. We plan to come back next year to make more dreams come true."

  • So much better than a hotel

"My wife and I and our two kids (7,12) along with my parents stayed in this lovely home in a nice development an easy trek to/from all Disney parks over our spring break in 2015 (15-25 minutes). And Universal seemed ~30 minutes away as well. We had no issues at all. Doreen sent out an informational email about a week before we flew down. And there is a booklet on the coffee table at the house as well with even more thorough information. She gives you her phone number to call in the event of any issue at all. We only emailed her once to get the password to the wifi. The kids enjoyed the pool I think every single day we were down there (8 nights). My son and I played a little ping pong as well. The house was clean and well cared for. It was nice to be able to save a bit of money and cook a few dinners and breakfasts at the house. Will absolutely contact Doreen again if we want to go back to Disney in the future. Thanks!!"

  • Lovely villa, excellent for families sharing.

"We had a wonderful stay in this villa which is extremely well fitted out and benefits from 6 comfortable and spacious bedrooms. The location is superb, being close to Disney parks and the restaurants and shops around Formosa Gardens. We have stayed in this area many times before over the last 25 years. This time we were three generations with 9 adults and 3 toddlers (Grandparents, grown up children and grandchildren) and we had plenty of space to enjoy. The facilities were excellent and the communication with the owner was superb. We hope to visit again!"

The Villages Travel Tips

The retirement community of The Villages is located in sunny, central Florida. It is 20 miles south of Ocala and 57 miles northwest of Orlando in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties. This development is home to more than 51,000 people and the fastest-growing micropolitan area in the U.S. as well as the fastest-growing small town.

The Villages' history dates back to the 1960s when Harold Schwartz, a Michigan businessman, sold land to retirees looking to escape to a warmer climate. Today, the descendants of Harold Schwartz and his son H. Gary Morse still control The Villages.

The Villages Attractions

The master-planned retirement community offers several forms of recreational activity. The Villages has numerous golf courses and offers "Free Golf for Life." Thirty-two of the courses are 9-hole layouts while the remaining 10 are country club championship courses. Two additional courses will be 27-hole layouts with a total of 621 holes of golf by the end of a final course build?-out.

Visit the Florida Carriage Museum and Resort and take a step back in time. This museum is home to the largest collection of antique horse-drawn carriages in the U.S. and is one of the largest in the world. There are more than 160 carriages from Europe and America, including the 1850 Ambruster Dress Chariot that once carried Emperor of Austria Franz Joseph and his wife, Elisabeth.

You can do plenty of shopping without leaving The Villages. There are boutiques scattered throughout the town squares, including many of the country's most popular brands. There are also grocery stores, pharmacies and superstores that will help you find everything you need. You can even venture throughout The Villages on your golf cart, the most fun way to travel through a small town.
