"We spent 2 glorious months in this beautiful home!! It is better than described. The furnishing are very comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. The location is ideal, close to major shopping, restaurants and 2 pools within walking distance. We are looking forward to our visit next year!!"Guest: Paula L. "We have rented this home for several years consecutively for the following reasons: 1. It's in a great, centralized location in The Villages. 2. The owners make it such a pleasant, easy experience. All you have to do is show up because everything you need is at the house from a crock pot to a golf cart gassed up and ready to go. 3. The house is always neat and clean and in good repair. 4. The owners really strive to make it a home away from home and respond immediately to any concerns and issues. They live in The Villages and have even come over in the middle of the night to help me with an issue when my husband was out of town. They are really terrific. 5. There are 2,000+ clubs in The Villages to cater to any interest you might have along with multiple venues of live entertainment, lots of friendly and active 55+ adults, fabulous movie theaters, lovely surroundings and landscaping, multiple restaurants, and too many adult educational opportunities to believe. You just have to visit the place to take it all in. 6. A couple of new favorites this year were Yalaha Bakery where they make beautiful, authentic German pastries "to die for" and yummy lunches with great German cold cuts; Rae Rae's Restaurant in Lady Lake has phenomenal breakfasts, Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake does a wonderful Sunday Brunch and the list goes on and on!"Guest: Repeat Visitor Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: April 1, 2014View listing
"We rented this property for 12 days in July and had a terrific time. Debra was great to work with and provided all of the information we needed to have a terrific stay. The house is furnished very tastefully and has everything you have in your own well-provisioned home. The master mattress is great if you have back troubles. We enjoyed having breakfast on the screened porch. The real test of a landlord is how they handle challenges and problems. There was a lightening strike right before our arrival that took out computer and phone system. Debra (from out of the country!) managed to get both systems up just in time for our trip. We also had trouble with the golf cart (it has been replaced so no worries for future tenants) and were able to get a local man to deliver one to us; which Debra reimbursed. Lastly, the neighbors near this home were delightful, as was the neighborhood pool, SeaBreeze Regional Rec Center and Hemingways at Havana Country Club (great restaurant)--all super close to this home. We highly recommend this home and landlord."Guest: cindy g. Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 19, 2014View listing
"My wife and I have stayed at this residence for 2 consecutive years(2013 & 2014). The house is spacious beautifully decorated, clean and well maintained. It is centrally located in the Villages, convienient to 2 Village entertainment squares, various golf courses, and a nearby shopping plaza. It is close ( about 1 hour 15 min) to Orlando and we have made trips to Disneyworld and the WinterPark art festival. The Villages and recreation centers provide a wide choice of activities and of course a many golf courses to play (golf cart included in rental). There are many restaurants to choose from both on and off property. The owners are both efficient and accomodating. We plan to to vacation there next year and would recommend this property to all."Guest: Greg and Judy Date of Stay: February 2014 Review Submitted: April 9, 2014View listing
The Villages Travel Tips
The retirement community of The Villages is located in sunny, central Florida. It is 20 miles south of Ocala and 57 miles northwest of Orlando in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties. This development is home to more than 51,000 people and the fastest-growing micropolitan area in the U.S. as well as the fastest-growing small town.
The Villages' history dates back to the 1960s when Harold Schwartz, a Michigan businessman, sold land to retirees looking to escape to a warmer climate. Today, the descendants of Harold Schwartz and his son H. Gary Morse still control The Villages.
The Villages Attractions
The master-planned retirement community offers several forms of recreational activity. The Villages has numerous golf courses and offers "Free Golf for Life." Thirty-two of the courses are 9-hole layouts while the remaining 10 are country club championship courses. Two additional courses will be 27-hole layouts with a total of 621 holes of golf by the end of a final course build?-out.
Visit the Florida Carriage Museum and Resort and take a step back in time. This museum is home to the largest collection of antique horse-drawn carriages in the U.S. and is one of the largest in the world. There are more than 160 carriages from Europe and America, including the 1850 Ambruster Dress Chariot that once carried Emperor of Austria Franz Joseph and his wife, Elisabeth.
You can do plenty of shopping without leaving The Villages. There are boutiques scattered throughout the town squares, including many of the country's most popular brands. There are also grocery stores, pharmacies and superstores that will help you find everything you need. You can even venture throughout The Villages on your golf cart, the most fun way to travel through a small town.
