  • quiet location near the parks

"we had a wonderful time staying at this condo on spring break. it was minutes from the Disney Parks and plenty of shopping and restaurants. I loved the location of this condo as we were on a quitter street. the quiet time after 10 PM allows you to get a good night's rest to hit the parks or the beach the next day. the adults and teens had a great time at the pool, tennis courts and sand volleyball. I would definitely return to this condo again."

  • Family Disney Trip

"We absolutely loved this place! With 8 adults and 6 kids, there was plenty of room for everyone. The kids had a blast in the pool and the adults enjoyed relaxing in the spa/hot tub after a long day at Disney. Could easily spend a couple of days just relaxing pool side without having to go anywhere. Great location as well as Disney, stores, and restaurants were nearby. Thanks to Chris and family! Very 'homey' feeling to this house. We will definitely be renting again! Cheers, The Hayter's"

  • Great Disney Vacation

"I took my whole family to Disney World spring break 2015. We had a terrific time. The house was the perfect thing for 10 people. The children had their own room and loved the animal theme. There was room for everyone. We enjoyed Disney, but we couldn't wait to get home and in the heated pool. It was so nice and relaxing to be able to swim at night. I have nothing but good things to say about this house. Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable. The Easter decoration made it feel as if we were at home. The children loved the gifts that they got from the owner. She was very pleasant to talk with and kept us informed on when things needed to be taken care of. Thanks again."

  • Beautiful home and resort

"Our family traveled to Florida from California for Spring Break this year. Renting a home, so far away, without being able to see it first was a little unnerving for me. I was SO relieved and excited when we finally arrived! The house is just as described and even better than I imagined! The community is beautiful also. Very peaceful and a nice retreat from the busy Orlando theme parks. Plenty to do within the resort also if you have time. I had time for a run one day and the grounds are perfect for it...lots of paths with lovely scenery. Our teenage daughters loved having their own rooms and bathrooms. The pool and game room were also amazing. The value received at this rental is really awesome. We stayed at hotels, in other parts of Florida, prior to our arrival at the rental. The hotels were nice, but nothing fancy and they all charged more per night than this rental house. I highly recommend this home and the owners are great to work with. We didn't have any problems with the rental process and they returned our deposit promptly after we left. One suggestion I would give is to allow yourself enough time to take a day off in between each theme park day, if at all possible. We did that this time and it was a much appreciated break and more like a true vacation. Thanks again to Lisa and Michael!"

The Villages Travel Tips

The retirement community of The Villages is located in sunny, central Florida. It is 20 miles south of Ocala and 57 miles northwest of Orlando in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties. This development is home to more than 51,000 people and the fastest-growing micropolitan area in the U.S. as well as the fastest-growing small town.

The Villages' history dates back to the 1960s when Harold Schwartz, a Michigan businessman, sold land to retirees looking to escape to a warmer climate. Today, the descendants of Harold Schwartz and his son H. Gary Morse still control The Villages.

The Villages Attractions

The master-planned retirement community offers several forms of recreational activity. The Villages has numerous golf courses and offers "Free Golf for Life." Thirty-two of the courses are 9-hole layouts while the remaining 10 are country club championship courses. Two additional courses will be 27-hole layouts with a total of 621 holes of golf by the end of a final course build?-out.

Visit the Florida Carriage Museum and Resort and take a step back in time. This museum is home to the largest collection of antique horse-drawn carriages in the U.S. and is one of the largest in the world. There are more than 160 carriages from Europe and America, including the 1850 Ambruster Dress Chariot that once carried Emperor of Austria Franz Joseph and his wife, Elisabeth.

You can do plenty of shopping without leaving The Villages. There are boutiques scattered throughout the town squares, including many of the country's most popular brands. There are also grocery stores, pharmacies and superstores that will help you find everything you need. You can even venture throughout The Villages on your golf cart, the most fun way to travel through a small town.

Regional centers feature courts and fitness facilities. Those who have dogs can take their furry friends for outdoor activities at any of the 11 parks, dog parks and trails owned by The Villages.

- Entertainment: There are three town squares in The Villages, including Lake Sumter Landing's Market Square, Spanish Springs Town Square and Brownwood Paddock Square. These town squares feature nightly activities such as live music and a farmer's market. There are also opportunities to learn woodworking or take a class at the Lifelong Learning College in The Villages.
