"Have been going to Florida for many years, this vacation was as good or better than any of them. The property was better than described. We were 25 minutes from our door to the Orlando airport, right where we picked up our relatives. The pictures accurately showed how nice the place was. Dealling with Ella was so easy. Within 20 minutes you had all kinds of resturants and things to do. We had to stay away from the Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop because they were addictive. The car show at Old Town was really worth the 20 minute drive. The pool, hot tub, and club house was first class. Thanks Ella for a great vacation. "It was a great family vacation. Everyone had their space and it was perfect for family dinners. We were able to host a family gathering and all were very excited about the comfort of the home. The location is central to the YMCA, Whole Foods and Park Avenue. The parks are not too far away and day trips to the beach are possible. This is our second VRBO for Winter Park and it is truly a 5 star stay."Guest: Mary T. Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: September 11, 2014View listing
"This is the 3rd condo we have stayed in at this area and it was the best. It was nicely furnished and clean. The pictures are accurate. There was extra bedding, lots of towels and even extra toilet paper, something you never get. Our "children" are adults in their twenties and there was plenty of room for 5. We will definitely return. It is about 10 minutes to the Disney parks."Guest: SMF Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 25, 2014View listing
"We stayed at the Disney Pool House for a week at the end of October. The house is just as pictured. There was plenty of room for all of us, myself, my daughter & her 6 children. We go to Disney every year and this year needed a bigger house. This house was a great fit !!! It was nice to have 4 bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable. The pool area was a nice size with lounge chairs and a table to eat at. The baby fence around the pool was great for the 1 year old. The pool is a very nice size which worked well with 5 kids swimming & playing in it. Our only complaint, if you could call it that, was that we paid for pool heat and the pool heater broke when we first got there. But Michelle immediately said she would refund the money for the pool heat which she did very promptly. Michelle was so nice and very easy to work with. We also had our security deposit returned with 2 days of leaving. Best of all the house is only about 10 minutes from Disney which was great !!!"Guest: Kathy T. The Villages Travel Tips
The retirement community of The Villages is located in sunny, central Florida. It is 20 miles south of Ocala and 57 miles northwest of Orlando in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties. This development is home to more than 51,000 people and the fastest-growing micropolitan area in the U.S. as well as the fastest-growing small town.
The Villages' history dates back to the 1960s when Harold Schwartz, a Michigan businessman, sold land to retirees looking to escape to a warmer climate. Today, the descendants of Harold Schwartz and his son H. Gary Morse still control The Villages.
The Villages Attractions
The master-planned retirement community offers several forms of recreational activity. The Villages has numerous golf courses and offers "Free Golf for Life." Thirty-two of the courses are 9-hole layouts while the remaining 10 are country club championship courses. Two additional courses will be 27-hole layouts with a total of 621 holes of golf by the end of a final course build?-out.
Visit the Florida Carriage Museum and Resort and take a step back in time. This museum is home to the largest collection of antique horse-drawn carriages in the U.S. and is one of the largest in the world. There are more than 160 carriages from Europe and America, including the 1850 Ambruster Dress Chariot that once carried Emperor of Austria Franz Joseph and his wife, Elisabeth.
You can do plenty of shopping without leaving The Villages. There are boutiques scattered throughout the town squares, including many of the country's most popular brands. There are also grocery stores, pharmacies and superstores that will help you find everything you need. You can even venture throughout The Villages on your golf cart, the most fun way to travel through a small town.
