  • Multi-generational Family Vacation

"The ample bedroom space was quite suitable for grandparents, parents, and children to have their own bed and privacy. The location is very accessible to all the tourist attractions, and our villa was very near to the pool for end of the day fun and relaxation. We had a great vacation and the accommodations helped make it care free."

  • Great stay

"I stayed here with my family and my cousins family, we were 11 people and a dog altogether. The house was spacious and comfortable for everyone. It is so close to Disney world, we were able to leave the parks for quick rests when it got too hot out and return within an hour or two. There were a few small problems and Lou and the property managers were amazing and took care of everything right away. A side note: there is a separate charge to heat the pool, it's not overly expensive just something I wish I had known prior."

  • Great home and experience

"We stayed with family from the UK to total of 4 adults and 3 kids and had a great time. The house had everything we needed and we loved the pool and amenities. There's a Walmart right nearby so it's easy to pop out and pick up anything you need. Haines was a bit further out from Orlando but not too far. Recommend visiting Bok Towers which is the best nearby attraction and was amazing."

  • Great place for a large group!

"We stayed here for nearly a week and LOVED it, the place worked out for a large group setting. Very short drive to Universal Studios and Disney World and golf courses near the area! The pool was and patio area was more than large enough to entertain a large group setting as well. One item that was different and unlike other VRBO's I've stayed in, there is only 1 item of everything (ie 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom, 1 dish soap pod, 1 roll of paper towels, etc) expect to complete a grocery run the first day before realizing you ran out of supplies. Additionally for the game room, there was pool, the basketball game (which didn't turn on), but no air hockey like the pictures show. Overall, the place is well worth it and the whole process of booking, checking in, checking out extremely painless"

The Villages Travel Tips

The retirement community of The Villages is located in sunny, central Florida. It is 20 miles south of Ocala and 57 miles northwest of Orlando in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties. This development is home to more than 51,000 people and the fastest-growing micropolitan area in the U.S. as well as the fastest-growing small town.

The Villages' history dates back to the 1960s when Harold Schwartz, a Michigan businessman, sold land to retirees looking to escape to a warmer climate. Today, the descendants of Harold Schwartz and his son H. Gary Morse still control The Villages.

The Villages Attractions

The master-planned retirement community offers several forms of recreational activity. The Villages has numerous golf courses and offers "Free Golf for Life." Thirty-two of the courses are 9-hole layouts while the remaining 10 are country club championship courses. Two additional courses will be 27-hole layouts with a total of 621 holes of golf by the end of a final course build?-out.

Visit the Florida Carriage Museum and Resort and take a step back in time. This museum is home to the largest collection of antique horse-drawn carriages in the U.S. and is one of the largest in the world. There are more than 160 carriages from Europe and America, including the 1850 Ambruster Dress Chariot that once carried Emperor of Austria Franz Joseph and his wife, Elisabeth.

You can do plenty of shopping without leaving The Villages. There are boutiques scattered throughout the town squares, including many of the country's most popular brands. There are also grocery stores, pharmacies and superstores that will help you find everything you need. You can even venture throughout The Villages on your golf cart, the most fun way to travel through a small town.
