"Had a very quiet and relaxing Fourth of July at Lotus Point. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend this to any friends or family. As other reviewers, we found the house to be warm and inviting, with all of the comforts of home.
Here’s what we liked: Master bed was comfortable, the bedding was warm, soft and clean and there were just the right amount of pillows. The master bath was good... great shower pressure & good plumbing. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, including basic condiments. The huge island in the kitchen is absolutely wonderful! Great space for food prep.
My only complaint about the house was the abundance of palmetto bugs. As soon as we walked in we found droppings on the counters, the island and the chair rails. I prayed it wasn't mouse poop and was pretty grossed out so I began to wipe the island with disinfectant wipes and quickly realized the island needed to be scrubbed clean, not just wiped clean. When I reached for the sponge in the sink, a huge palmetto bug jumped out of the sponge holder. After killing a couple more palmetto bugs, we came to the conclusion that the droppings were very likely from them and not mice. Thankfully, there was bug spray to save the day. We also found droppings on the bench at the foot of the master bed and under the bathroom sink. I get it, we're on a lake, there are bugs everywhere. But it was just a bad first impression.
All bug issues aside, the property is wonderful. It is nestled on a beautiful piece of land, on a private road and right on the lake. Really breathtaking views of the lake from the back of the house on the screened in porch. The living room has a nice sitting area to read a book or listen to music. The family room is stocked with some old but good board games, a tv, a small library of books and a beautiful fireplace. The wifi is strong enough to stream movies from Netflix but we did experience some buffering issues from time to time. This is expected as we're not in the big city! The dryer, dishwasher and blender were used and all worked fine. The house is a short walk from the Floral City historic district and Rails to Trails bike trail. The nearest convenience store is a 2 minute drive away. The local bar, the Shamrock Inn, had decent food and drinks. A 45 minute drive from Floral City is Dunnellon where you can tube down the Rainbow River. Overall, a wonderful place to get away from it all!"
