  • Great Location, Awesome Experience

"We loved our stay in this homey, nicely decorated, clean, well equipped home. The furnishings and beds were comfortable and the bathroom clean and roomy. When looking at rentals, having a couch and love seat or sectional is very important. We like to stretch out in the evening and relax so the two couches were perfect. We also enjoyed having our morning coffee and meals on the deck everyday. Also close to stores for any supplies we needed. It was easy to kayak around the canals since there was really no current. Within a couple minutes we could be at the Kayak Shack which is next to the Upper Deck and for a small charge they took us and the double kayak to the head of the Weeki Wachee River. It was about 5 miles downstream back to the house. This is a must do. The kayak trip was so beautiful. The river is narrow and winds around and takes a little skill to maneuver down it. I was glad we practiced in the canals for a couple days before doing the trip. We also went to see the mermaids at Weeki Wachee and the nature preserve which was also close by. During our stay we saw lots of wildlife, whopping cranes, a bald eagle so many water birds, woodpeckers and of course manatees in the river. We felt so lucky to see them. Maryann is so helpful. She helped me with directions, restaurants (Becky Jacks - best fish ever), she contacted the Kayak Shack to make sure they could take us up river, let us know to go to Pine Island for the most beautiful sunsets. She was always quick to respond to any email I sent with my many questions. So wonderful to work with. I would recommend staying here to anyone. Thanks Maryann!"

  • Boaters dream

"This was my second year staying at hushpuppy lane. I can't wait to come back next year. The house is centrally located and there is something for everyone to do. I personally spend most of my time on the gulf logging some bottom time or bending a rod. No complaints at all about modern accommodations. Plenty of room at the dock for my 23' boat. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to a friend or family member."

  • Fantastic house and beautiful area of Florida

"We've been coming to Florida for quite a number of years to visit family and many visits ago got over the lure of the Orlando area. On the last visit we came to Weeki Wachee to see the Mermaid show that was on TV when I was growing up. It's still there and pretty amazing in a kitschy way. We fell in love with the area after renting a canoe and paddling the river. I looked at just about every VRBO Weeki Wachee rental for out most recent vacation (Nov 2014). The 3 Palms Villa really stood out. For about the same money you could have shag carpet and dark walnut paneling or you could get this place with pool and classy décor. I agree with another reviewer who said it looked too good for the price. I also agree that it is a fantastic bargain. Our week was great in every respect. The house was comfortable. All the amenities are first rate and the electronics up to date. We got great use out of the kayaks, pool, and new hot tub. We rented a boat at the marina and went out into the gulf for a nice excursion. The local restaurant we ended up liking was "R Beach", down the road on Shoal Line. They have live jazz on Wednesday nights and the Owner and Staff treated us like regulars on the first visit. Second choice was the Upper Deck for nice atmosphere, good food, and friendly service. We must have caught the Bayport Inn on a bad night, because other reviewers seemed to like it. We didn't have a good meal or service there. Bryan was a very responsive owner in regards to communication. He obviously cares a great deal for this house and it is more than a typical rental. I felt privileged to be allowed to rent such a nice house at such a reasonable price. We hope to visit again."
