  • Seasoned VRBO Traveler and This is One of the Best Rentals We've Stayed in!

"We've rented vacation homes through VRBO often. Some were 'over the top'. Some weren't that great. I'm gonna call this house 'The Goldilocks House' because it was JUST RIGHT. Thrilled to discover that this home had EVERYTHING (and more) we could possibly need. *I recommend taking along a list of things you think you'll need (bug spray, sun protection, tote bags, cotton balls, binoculars, toilet paper, etc.). Check against your list on arrival and buy the few items you'll need. There's a Walgreens on EVERY corner, plus local Wal-Mart type stores. Childrens toys, booster seat, portacrib, books, movies, beach towels, tote bags, swim toys, 2 bikes, wine glasses, binoculars, extra blankets, snorkel gear and MORE are provided. Wine glasses are in dining room hutch. Beach towels in hall closet. *When we were there, the golf cart had a minor mechanical issue.. Called to let Wendy know. A local business will replace the part. Walking is convenient everywhere in Ozona. We preferred walking so it wasn't a detriment to our stay. * Steps make the house not ideal for disabled. *House is 50/50 laminate/tile and carpet. Our yorkies wore panties/belly band to prevent potential accidents. The couch is nice - put a blanket on it to protect from dog hair. Blankets are in Master Bed. closet. *House is located on a dead end. No traffic. QUIET neighborhood. Neighbors were VERY friendly. Ozona's sunset tradition- members of community gather by the bay to watch sun set. *Many friendly dogs in community, feral kittens up the street. Our dogs used NexGuard - had NO problem with fleas, ticks, etc. Bring shampoo for baths after the beach! *Fenced yard acceptable for yorkies, but not ideal. Rear fence gaps large enough for yorkie to squeeze through if motivated. Easy temp. solution - roll of clear vinyl plastic and a staple gun. (Or similar options) *Our stay was insect & mosquito free! NO insect bites despite never using bug spray. *Bring window shades - front & back - for car/truck. *Ozona Pizza - good, will custom make vegan/allergy free, portions are LARGE (Lg. Greek Salad feeds 4) RECOMMENDATION: Use Windsong Charters (Windsong Boat Rentals) for a pontoon expedition to the sand-bar. ABSOLUTE BEST DAY of our trip! Dolphins raced our boat in the channel! Extremely competent and friendly staff! Well worth the cost! Take your dogs and camera! Also did a Beginner Sailing class through Windsong. Captain Roland was wonderful. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company!"

  • ESCAPE TO DREAMSCAPE AT SUNSET BEACH!!

"We have been coming to St. Pete Beach, FL since 2007 and are very familiar with the area, but this has truly been our best vacation rental thus far!! The photos cannot transmit the authentic beauty of this lovely corner unit and its spectacular panoramic views of the Gulf. This place is perfect whether it’s a family vacation, a honeymoon or just a seclusion and/or relaxation. Sunsets are breathtaking especially when you watch them from the balcony with a glass of good red wine and exquisite dinner in the sound of waves. No restaurant in the area can beat these views and comfort! Master Bedroom has private access to the balcony with a gorgeous view of the beach and nightlights of the private houses along the Sunset Beach to the North made an impression of “Little Italy”. Views from the 2nd Bedroom at night reminded us of “Mini Chicago Skyline”. It was absolutely amazing to have “Beach View”, “Little Italy” and “Mini Chicago Skyline” all in one place from the wrap around balcony! We enjoyed our 40 nights stay immensely, and one of the best moments was the 4th of July celebration and fireworks! Paul and Solange are amazing landlords and everything in their condo is done so tastefully and exquisitely. They have thought through every tiny detail in their beautiful home that will make your stay special, extremely comfortable and superb. I can truly say that after staying in their condo you would not want to stay anywhere else! Thank you for sharing your fantastic home with us! We look forward to our next stay!"

  • After spending three months here....I'm still not ready to leave!!!!

"I took a gamble and booked this condo just off the internet...sight unseen. I hit the jackpot. The owners have thoroughly updated the unit and I considered it very stylish, especially with some other units I have stayed in over the last couple years. Being here longer than a week, I really felt like I became part of the community. The year round residents couldn't have been more welcoming and the daily pool gathering between 1 pm and 3 pm shouldn't be missed. I learned more during those sessions in regards to the best restaurants, live music and shows that were in town, then anything I picked up reading in the newspapers! The condo is within easy walking distance to the beach, as well as the heart of Treasure Island....everything you could need! I enjoyed the experience so much, I would of easily bought a unit within this complex myself (if it wasn't for the pet restrictions)! The owners are both very easy to communicate with and in addition to ensuring great accommodations, could not have been nicer with each exchange we had. I recommend this rental without hesitation. Faultless."

Florida Central West Travel Tips

Central West Florida’s beaches in this region have an awesome advantage over those on the east side of the state: their Gulf waters are typically calmer and warmer than those on than the Atlantic Ocean side. Here are the top attractions and sights in Central West Florida:

Tampa

Tampa is an excellent place to vacation for both families and couples alike. Here are some of the top things to do and see:

- Tampa is the perfect spot for any animal lover. Head to the small but impressive Lowry Park Zoo, see lions, tigers and other cats at the Big Cat Rescue and check out the endangered gentle giants of the sea at the Tampa Electric Manatee Viewing Center, which is free of charge. There’s also the gorgeous Florida Aquarium on the edge of downtown Tampa, which houses more than 20,000 animals and plants. Make sure to set aside at least three hours here to see it all!

- For adventure, take a trip to Busch Gardens, which combines Seaworld and other animal exhibits with safari-themed rides. It’s the ultimate family theme park, and many people opt to spend more than one day here. Just across the street from Busch Gardens is Adventure Island, which boasts 30 splendid acres of water rides and pools. Another must-visit if you have the time is Dinosaur World, which is just a 25-minute drive east to Plant City. Here, these prehistoric beasts come to life in a large park and play area, where kids can also take part in a fossil dig.

- Tampa also prides itself on its excellent museums, including the Museum of Science and Industry, housed in an other-worldly building, and the Tampa Museum of Art, which has some great kid-friendly exhibits.

- Adults will love the Henry B. Plant Museum, which is housed in the 1891 Tampa Bay hotel and tells a wonderful story of the Victorian era, with gorgeous antiques in an ornate building. There’s also the antique Tampa Theatre for movies, Lettuce Lake State Park, the Tampa Bay History Center and The David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts.

- Of course, the beaches here are top notch, but don’t miss the lovely Fort De Soto Park’s beach, with an interesting war-time history.

St. Petersburg/Clearwater

St. Petersburg is just southwest of Tampa on the bayside, while Clearwater lies straight west. This area offers award-winning beaches, excellent museums and other perfect amenities for your Florida vacation. Here are some of the best things to do and see in the St. Petersburg and Clearwater areas:

- It’s a rare occasion when St. Petersburg isn’t sunny, so head to some of Florida’s most amazing beaches. St. Pete Beach has been called one of the best in the country. Spend the day on its frosty white beaches, keep an eye out for dolphins and grab lunch at Frenchy’s or The Hurricane restaurants.

- Check out the collection of 50,000 tropical plants on a whopping 4 acres at the lovely Sunken Gardens in the heart of St. Petersburg.

- Take a stroll on The Pier, where you can shop for souvenirs and take a catamaran tour. It’s especially beautiful at night.

- If you can handle a day or morning away from the beach, explore the 245 acres of pure nature at the Boyd Hill Nature Preserve.

- Appreciate the work of a creative genius at the Salvador Dali Museum, which boasts the largest collection of his work outside of Europe. You’ll recognize his tell-tale Surrealist style right away.

- See Winter, the famous dolphin who lost her entire tail in a crab trap when she was only three months old. She learned to adapt and is currently a big celebrity at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

- Hang out on beautiful Clearwater Beach and take a stroll or picnic in Philippe Park in

Clearwater.

Sarasota

Sarasota is about a 45-minute drive south of St. Petersburg. It’s a wonderful place for a Gulf Coast beach trip. Here are the top things to do:

- Siesta Key Beach is known as one of the best in the country. The sand is powdery and glistening and the water is often a deep, gorgeous emerald. It’s perfect for families, as it’s one of the few beaches in the area that doesn’t allow smoking. Also, the gulf waters are warm and calm, so kids can play freely here, and you might even see some frolicking dolphins, adding to Siesta Key Beach’s picture-perfect ambience. If you dare, go parasailing with Siesta Key Parasail & Jetski for a thrilling ride and unmatched views from above.

- Immerse yourself in nature at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, the Sarasota Jungle Gardens and the Mote Marine Laboratory.

- Appreciate the arts at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, housed in an ornate structure, and the palm-shrouded, Mission-style Sarasota Opera House.
