  • Sandy's Retreat Excellent

"Rented Sandy's Retreat in part to attend a friend's wedding and in part to have a much overdo vacation. Invited many friends who came and went during the week. Speaking with everyone who visited, everyone was very, very pleased with the property and the location. They all had a blast!!! That said, I enjoyed the time away at the Retreat that did not even look at my cell for 5 days. It is nicely located on a canal to bring and dock your boat. The beach is only a couple of blocks away. It was, honestly, one of the best vacations I have had in many a years. Not to mention that very reasonably priced for the size. The house, itself, was best suited for my purpose with a little 1 bedroom getaway downstairs and the bigger unit upstairs. It was clean and well provided as to linens, towels, appliances (ie coffee makers - HA HA!), etc. The only thing needed is your clothes and your food (maybe some adult beverages). Could not have been more pleased with the entire house and its setup. I would most definitely recommend the place for anyone looking for the Keys experience. I am definitely, no I should say, our group is definitely looking at doing this again during 2015. The last, and very important feature, is the owner was nothing but a pleasure. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!"

  • Family fun

"This house is terriffically accommodating for families with young children. I'm assuming the owners have a little boy. Lots of towels, including ones with hoods for kids. Every kitchen tool you might imagine. The gas stove is temperamental and the dishwasher needed anchoring. But the caretaker was sweet, efficient and capable so I'm sure the dishwasher and one broken drawer is fixed already. Very comfortable beds. It's maybe a little dated but in a way we actually enjoyed. Not new but comfortable. Not modern but sensible. The beach was great. The hammock awesome. There is a jetty 100ft down. The pool is great. Salt water and the stairs go all the way across. Great for new swimmers. The kids rooms are on the third floor so if you two suites on the second and a great little beach house the grandparents enjoyed. The beach house slightly rustic and small but smart and fun. It was very enjoyable and wouldn't have traded it. Allowed for some privacy from all four of our kids too (newborn to seven). We stayed at the house pretty much the whole time. The view is incredible. Previously I read reviews saying there were Mosquitos in the pond. That's just silly - it's salt water fed through the ocean and there's mangrove fish in it. The fountains don't turn on anymore but it's not needed. Wouldn've blocked the view. And the bridge is super cool. We rode the three bikes on the property and off. Took the kayaks out. Bought some $20 rods and caught fish off the jetty (we kept the rods). There are pool toys. It's just a great place for a great time."

  • Fantastic accommodations

"Thank you Bob and Pyllis for another great time. We so enjoyed our stay again this year. We met some fantastic people and of course the fishing was awesome and let me not forget to mention the fresh key limes for my pies. Looking forward to the same time next year."

  • wonderful week

"This home was exactly as described-spacious, private, beautifully situated with long views down the water way. It was unseasonable cool for our time is Islamorada, but we still enjoyed several afternoons sitting on the screen porch, drinking rum punch, and completely relaxing. This home is conveniently located within minutes of several excellent eating places. We experienced good meals at Lazydays, at the Green Turtle, and at Chef Michaels-I would highly recommend all of them. However, for dining in, Mr. Lobster is right up the road with excellent fresh seafood and stone crab especially! Thanks, Chris, for sharing your lovely home with us."
