First Experience in the Keys
"In June we had a wonderful week stay at “The Markeysa”. There were 10 of us ranging in age from 68 to 1 year old. The grounds are absolutely lovely, felt like we were checked into a resort instead of a private home. We all enjoyed the wildlife on the property; the children named all the iguanas and enjoyed watching the land crabs, lizards and birds.
We are from the Philadelphia area and this was our first experience with the Keys so we were disappointed with the ocean experience or lack of. We were so excited to have our own private beach and the actual beach (sand) part was nice with palm trees, a hammock, a picnic table and chairs but the seaweed and the stuff that came along with it (trash) was shocking to us who are accustomed to the Jersey, Maryland, South Carolina and other Florida beaches/ocean BUT that was our unfamiliarity of the area not the fault of the property. Most of us never ventured passed the seaweed mess but the few that went pretty far off shore to snorkel said it was most enjoyable. They saw fish, coral, a sting ray and the highlight was a baby nurse shark that stayed still long enough for all of us to be called down and for the brave to venture out to see it and take underwater camera pictures of it. Kayaking was also enjoyed by some of us. My recommendation is “bring water shoes”!
The cottage was a bit smaller than we expected. My son, daughter-in-law and their one year old settled in there for one night but on the second night, after some rain, then encountered some pretty big bugs and moved up to the main house. We also experienced some sugar ants in the main house, also do to the rain, but called Freewheeler Vacations and they immediately had someone out to take care of both problems. Gotta expect bugs in Florida I guess!
The house was great and well equipped. Ample bath & pool towels, two pack-and-plays, a highchair, hair dryers, even movies, area magazine and books etc. Kitchen had everything that we needed.
The lap pool and hot tub were amazing, the kids were in the pool from the time they woke up until it was time for dinner and the adults also loved the entire pool area.
Freewheeler Vacations were the best! From my first contact with them regarding the property to the end of our stay they were just great. They answered my MANY questions and concerns and with the utmost speed and were always courteous. Brandi and Sandy thank you so much, you are the best!
To sum it up we were sorry to see the week end."

"My family was there March 2015 and we loved the private beach. Prior to arriving we had planned to leave the property and visit other towns/beaches but we NEVER left the property during the day. This house has everything you need! Kayaks, chairs, fire pit, pack n play, hammock, bikes, board games, etc. We took turns exploring on the SUP/Kayaks - saw nurse sharks and other small fish right off the beach. One day, when it was the lowest tide we had all week, we walked out nearly 50yds to the water. The beach is grassy, so def bring water shoes. The sunrises are amazing and the views are just spectacular. We are looking to book our 2016 trip now and having sincere trouble finding anything remotely like this house. We LOVED it! Restaurants to visit: Mangrove Mikes, Robbies, and Lorelei's (most gorgeous sunsets)."

".... at Coco Palms !!! This was by far the best vacation property we have ever had the pleasure of renting. The house was clean, cozy and comfortable. The Florida Keys decor added a certain vacation "flare" for us that made us feel right at home. The beds were so comfortable, we slept wonderfully !! Of course the snorkeling, parasailing, offshore fishing, wave running and swimming helped with that also :) Everything about the house was in tip top shape, including the recommendations by the owners on restaurants and activities. Rose and her husband were wonderful landlords and we hope someday to be back in Islamorada to rent from them again. Coco Palms is a must for us !! We took a cruise a few years back for our daughter's high school graduation and this year decided to spend a week in Islamorada for our twin boy's high school graduation. Both trips were our favorites ever, and very special memories were made with our family, but the comfort of settling into Coco Palms for a week was nothing we have ever experienced before.
The fishing off the dock, cooking our catch from our offshore fishing trip with Captain Brian and First Mate Pat on the "Satisfaction" out of Robbie's Pier (highly recommended), relaxing on the front porch hammock in the breeze, having coffee on the back porch, sighting iguanas, fishing and viewing the sunset from the private White Marlin beach, enjoying breakfast after opening the blinds in this bright beautiful home, or just playing board games and cards in the evenings in the cozy living room were second to none. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home. It was like vacationing in PARADISE !!!!"

"We stayed in this home for a week in September and had an excellent experience . We had 5 adults one 9 yr old and 2 toddlers and the accommodations worked well . When the toddlers were sleeping the adults could sit on the balcony overlooking the ocean and visit or grill (we purchased one from Dollar General). Usually our days consisted of one outing for several hours. Due to the central location we went to the Theatre of the Seas, snorkeling, feeding tarpons at Robbie's , and some of us drove to Key West one day. Nice sandy back yard/beach. We rented 2 kayaks from Robbie's for the week and they delivered and picked up. The ocean was good for our group as we favored safety (since we had a 9 yr old who loved to explore) and view. Snorkeling was very limited until you waded out about 50 ft where it was waist deep and clear but the kayaks allowed good access. The home was very comfortable and well furnished and clean."
