  • Picture Perfect

"The condo was exactly as described by the owner. The unit was clean and very comfortable. It was a great complex with only ten units - no large crowds. The weather was picture perfect. We spent everyday on the dock, enjoying the sun, fishing and snorkeling (easy access to the water from the ladder off the dock). The water was crystal clear, though a bit chilly, we still were in it nearly everyday of our visit. The only downfall of our week visit was that the pool was not heated as described and unfortunately was not going to be rectified until the day we were scheduled to leave. I would definitely recommend this unit and hope to stay again in the future. The owner is very easy to communicate with and responds to any questions promptly."

  • In a word...Fabulous!

"It was the best vacation we've had in The Keys in a long time. From the moment we arrived, it was perfect. The location idyllic. It sits on a lazy street, in a sleepy little neighborhood. It is great for relaxing yet close to all the places we've become accustomed to frequenting. From the moment we entered the property we knew it was going to be amazing. The property is beautifully landscaped. When sitting on the pool deck, you are surrounded by lush vegetation which while beautiful, also provided a degree of privacy from the surrounding homes. We spent hours in the pool with the kids. We had kayaks and a paddleboard delivered from the Kayak Shack which we used to explore the canal and along the break wall. This became a daily ritual for the kids. Sitting on the upper deck at night, listening to the wind rustle the leaves, or just star gazing was a lovely, tranquil way to finish off the day. The pool area by night, stunning. The house is exactly as pictured. The layout is open with a nice flow. Although spacious, you never feel too far away from the rest of your party. It is beautifully furnished, very clean, well maintained. The appliances top of the line. The color palette is reminiscent of the sea and quite soothing. Doug, our host has provided suggestions for where to eat, places to go. We had pizza from Chad's. I'm not a fan of pizza, but this was really good. We also tried the key lime cake from The Trading Post. It too was an excellent recommendation. The Hungry Tarpon at Robbie's Marina was another great spot to catch a bite and feed the tarpon(they were really hungry). Our hosts have thought of everything you might need from beach toys, stacks of reading material, puzzles and bikes which the kids put to good use. The downstairs room with the entertainment center and ping pong table was where we'd begin to wind down each evening with family movie night. I can't say enough about our host, Doug. From our first inquiry to the end of our stay, and after, he was wonderful. He answered all our questions. He encouraged us to call if there were any problems(there were none), because he genuinely wanted us to have a lovely vacation. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and because of this, we did. My niece who traveled with us, upon returning home, told her mom what a dream vacation she had had, and how now she was back to her old boring life. I'd have to agree with her. It was a dream vacation. We will definitely be back!"

  • Best vacation!

"Everyone in our group of 17 agreed that this was the best vacation ever! The north house, apartment, infinity pool, and grounds exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was very well stocked and the ice machine was a great bonus! Everything was clean and organized. The teenagers as well as our 19 month old found many places to play and explore and there were plenty of toys for the pool or sand. Safety was a concern for our young grandson but the infinity pool was not accessible for him due to a tall rail and gates and the there was only one open area on the wrap around porch for him to reach the beach. The gates to the pool can be kept open if safety is not an issue. The pool guy did an awesome job keeping the water clear and clean and there was no chemical smell which was much appreciated! Plenty of comfortable seating in the house as well as on the massive porch overlooking the ocean gave our large group space to gather for relaxing or playing games. There are also many beach chairs and a hammock. The impressive fish tank was fascinating to watch as the fish and other creatures are active at different times of day. There was sufficient space in the bedrooms as well as large closets and private bathrooms; except the cabana room does not have a closet. There are comfortable queen beds in all the rooms except the master (king) and the twin trundles upstairs. Lisa, the property manager was very friendly and very accessible for questions or issues or just to talk to, and the pool guy was great as well! The rental company was very friendly and easy to work with and provided a lot of information to help us prepare for the trip. I could not find anything to complain about which my family would say is unusual for me! The beach is rocky along the edge of the water and more natural than a public beach groomed for swimmers. You will need water shoes! The ocean stays shallow for quite a way out making it easy and less scary for inexperienced ocean kayakers. If you are visiting the Keys for the first time, do some research on the area you choose to stay in for activities and shopping. There is plenty to do but not always easy or quick to find just by driving around. There can be heavy traffic on the main road which will slow down your travel during peak seasons. If you are like me and just want to relax in a beautiful, private, peaceful, spacious setting, then you will never want to leave Island Palms Estate! We look forward to a return trip!"

  • Perfect fishing/relaxing location

"I have been coming to Islamorada on fishing vacations with friends for the past 6 years and love the area and all it has to offer. My wife and I decided this would be the perfect place to spend our honeymoon and rented the house for a week this fall. This house exceeded expectations in every way. Excellent location on lower matecumbe, secluded on a quiet street, but close to excellent dining with many of the keys best restaurants near by. The house also had a great kitchen with all the tools needed to cook a meal inside or out on the grill. We also rented a 24' center console from vacation boat rentals in marathon for the week. The dock in front of the house has ample room up to two boats up to 26', and the canal was loaded with bait. Quick ride to the reef, or take indian key channel to the bay side. I have used other boat rental companies closer by, but I highly recommend using vacation boat rentals from marathon. They will deliver to the indian key channel boat ramp right near by the house. Just make sure to go slow your first time coming in the inlet to the house. It is marked with galvanized pipe on either side and is tight, but easy to navigate. We had an excellent time, and look forward to coming back again."
