"We stayed at the Happy Tarpon for one week in September. There were five adults in our group (our grown children). The house was absolutely perfect for our trip. Everyone had plenty of space and the 3 1/2 bathrooms were really a nice extra for us when we were all trying to get ready to go somewhere. We rented a kayak and stand-up paddleboard and had a great time trying them out...when we could pry ourselves from the pool! We kayaked right beside three manatee near our dock. We saw double water spouts! We stayed up and watched "Sharknado" (found the DVD on the bookcase). We could hardly get my daughter out of the pool and really enjoyed the privacy of the back patio, dock and pool area. We enjoyed numerous sunsets, despite some rainy weather. It was really as close to perfect as I can imagine. The kids have already asked if we can make this an annual outing! Much thanks to the owner for their gracious hospitality and for sharing their lovely home with us. It was truly a vacation we will always remember. We all hope we can return sometime!"

"Everyone in our group of 17 agreed that this was the best vacation ever! The north house, apartment, infinity pool, and grounds exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was very well stocked and the ice machine was a great bonus! Everything was clean and organized. The teenagers as well as our 19 month old found many places to play and explore and there were plenty of toys for the pool or sand. Safety was a concern for our young grandson but the infinity pool was not accessible for him due to a tall rail and gates and the there was only one open area on the wrap around porch for him to reach the beach. The gates to the pool can be kept open if safety is not an issue. The pool guy did an awesome job keeping the water clear and clean and there was no chemical smell which was much appreciated! Plenty of comfortable seating in the house as well as on the massive porch overlooking the ocean gave our large group space to gather for relaxing or playing games. There are also many beach chairs and a hammock. The impressive fish tank was fascinating to watch as the fish and other creatures are active at different times of day. There was sufficient space in the bedrooms as well as large closets and private bathrooms; except the cabana room does not have a closet. There are comfortable queen beds in all the rooms except the master (king) and the twin trundles upstairs. Lisa, the property manager was very friendly and very accessible for questions or issues or just to talk to, and the pool guy was great as well! The rental company was very friendly and easy to work with and provided a lot of information to help us prepare for the trip. I could not find anything to complain about which my family would say is unusual for me! The beach is rocky along the edge of the water and more natural than a public beach groomed for swimmers. You will need water shoes! The ocean stays shallow for quite a way out making it easy and less scary for inexperienced ocean kayakers.
If you are visiting the Keys for the first time, do some research on the area you choose to stay in for activities and shopping. There is plenty to do but not always easy or quick to find just by driving around. There can be heavy traffic on the main road which will slow down your travel during peak seasons. If you are like me and just want to relax in a beautiful, private, peaceful, spacious setting, then you will never want to leave Island Palms Estate! We look forward to a return trip!"

"The property was perfect for our needs for our week vacation. We had two couples and two friends so we all had our own rooms. No issues will the amenities - the pool was a perfect size and the hot tub was amazing. Loved the casual feel of the place - would highly recommend for a family gathering. The only drawback for us was we brought a boat and anchored it off shore but to get to it daily we had to trudge through the muck at the shoreline since there is no dock at this time (I believe new owner is looking at putting one in though). This is a part of Keys Living so we laughed it off and used to Kayaks to launch a daily queen off the beach to the boat. The location was perfect and close to all of our favorite Islamorada spots - Lorelie, Robbies (yummy Blueberry Mojitos), Chef Michaels, O-o-Tray and Tower of Pizza - and we tried a new one - Ziggie & Mad Dogs - awesome steaks! Working through the property management company was a joy and we had a personal visit while there to make sure we were happy - which we were!"

"We rented our condo for February to avoid winter. We wanted to be on the ocean with swimming pool and hot tub with beautiful gounds and a gate for safety. We were joined by our diving daughter and toddler grandson for one week and our fisherman son for another. The unit is perfect for a family even including toys annd steps to the beach. We took so many excursions even a garden tour, and still have lots left for next year."
