  • Travel like a Local

"I stayed at the Golden Heron for the first time and let me tell you this house is AMAZING!!!! It has everything you could possibly want and much, much more!!!! This house is so unique (even has an open living room space) and has been remodeled with many nice upgrades. It has the true Key West charm and for a handful of days, I actually felt like a local. Aside from never wanting to leave the house, the walk to Duval street is less than a mile and if you are looking for local restaurants, you don't have to stray too far. Local cuisines are about a block away. I would most definitely stay at the golden heron again. Do not pass up this opportunity to get a true Key West feel!"

  • Perfect place to stay!

"Wonderful place to stay! We will be back again, owner is a pleasure to work with. Great location, easily get to anywhere walking(10-15minute to Duval)bikes, or scooters. Already looking forward to our next visit."

  • Fun for family reunion

"I brought a group of 21 family members with ages from 8 - 80. It is a nice house in a great location. We were one short block from Duvall street and walking distance to many of the attractions - southernmost point, Hemmingway house, Fort Zachary state park and the marina near the Westin. The grocery store is just around the corner so we could carry everything and we did not need cars. The house is pretty and most of it has been renovated. The dishwasher did not work but they tried to fix it and then replace it but could not do it during the holidays. The management offered to send someone to wash dishes but we declined. The area can be a little noisy. We did not hear noise from the crowds as much as the roosters. (For some historical reason, Key West has roosters wandering the town. They like to announce morning starting at about 4 am.) We rented both the 7 bedroom and 4 bedroom 'attached' house. The 4 bedroom is newer and in better shape. Overall, we had a good time and the rental was good."

  • The Best of Both Worlds!

"We stayed at Colony Poolside April 2nd to 10th and it was just excellent! No, really -- you can go into the action whenever you are in the mood and then back to Xanadu to relax, chat poolside with other bungalow neighbors and enjoy your lovely mini-home. The rental itself is clean, beautiful, private and cozy. The nautical theme is so well done. We loved it! Bed was very comfortable and place had all the amenities we needed. Shower power is great and being able to do laundry (we just do carry-on flying) was a plus. It was nice to be able to eat breakfast and lunches or have a cocktail at home when not biking out for a bite. The 1/2 block away corner store had all small convenience items and Fausto's (a 2 min bike ride) had everything else. Had a great time poolside each afternoon talking, swimming, sunning and listening to tunes with our bungalow neighbors. Definitely rent bikes for your full time there and you will not be disappointed. We biked everywhere in minutes and it was perfect. Could go either to a lovely restaurant, a different beach depending on the day, touring places or down to the Duval Street action at anytime. (Do leave the bikes and call a $7 cab if down there imbibing late night.) The only change we would suggest is moving the cleaning company's work hut, which is poolside and is the only communal gathering place in the whole setting. The tenant laundry room should be switched with their room as it is located further away. Didn't bother us often, but just a suggestion. We give this a full on 5 star review and recommend it to anyone looking for the best of both worlds for fun in the sun!"
