  • Perfect house walking distance from Duval

"The Mermaid house was ideal for me, my husband and our 2 teenage boys. It is on a quiet street and the tall fence offers plenty of privacy. The outdoor shower is a clever idea and there is plenty of room for relaxing in the back yard. There were bikes on the property with locks to use for getting around but you won't need them to get to Duval. It's one block away. I really didn't want to leave. Looks like I'll be coming back again. Thank you Barbara and thank you Dave."

  • Wonderful home away from home

"The home was actually as pictured. My family and I went down for the 4th of July weekend, and we were not disappointed. The location is perfect, about a half a block off Duval. The downstairs was spacious and comfortable. We loved the use of a full kitchen for quick meals. The upstairs rooms were super comfortable, and the perfect size for us. I would not hesitate to stay here again."

  • Satisfactory stay at Villa Deja Vu

"Spent Thanksgiving Week at Villa Deja Vu. We had a "good" stay. Pros: Location - right off Duval, you can walk anywhere Kitchen - high quality utensils, nice layout, plenty of room to cook. Pool - great for teenager AND a four year old. Cleaned by pool service 3 times while we were there. We really got a lot of use out of it. Nicely decorated. Nice TV, Good WiFi. Large selection of beach and pool towels. Cons: Clothes dryer broken. Called maintenance and a part had been ordered but with it being Thanksgiving week, no chance of it being fixed. With that in mind, we didn't call in after we discovered that the kitchen sink sprayer didn't work and the faucet in the upstairs bathroom didn't work. DVD player didn't work(bad cord to tv)--this may be a small thing for some, but with a 4 yr old and his favorite movies at stake. Beds looked really neat with low sitting wood frames, but mattresses were pretty hard and pillows funny shaped. If you like that... We had circuit breakers trip a couple of times. Once we reset, we had no problems with them again. Light in pool - couldn't find switch for it and was told by pool crew it didn't work. Lights around the patio in general weren't adequate to make a really cool back patio useful at night--there was only one outdoor light by the sliding glass door, but its swivel was broken so you couldn't aim it to light up more of the backyard. Found condom wrappers in the back brush while my brother and I searched for the switch to turn on the pool heat that we had paid for. It's not in the house instructions. You have to go back to the heat pump behind the wooden privacy fence, flip the breaker on and then go to the heat pump and manually turn it on. Took a night to warm up, but after that it was fantastic. While house was very clean when we checked in, the floors were really dirty. Noticed that after you walked around barefoot the 1st day. Our biggest impression was that this place seemed incomplete. Like it hadn't been completely renovated yet--like alarm system wires hanging from windows in back that looked like someone had stopped mid-installation. Overall impression. I would stay there again if I knew that the above issues were addressed. Place screams of potential. But we paid a lot for the week stay. For that money, we expected things to be right when we got there. Yes, little things happen. But there were too many little things wrong at the beginning. We may be back...after more reviews."

  • Great place

"My husband and I spent a week in this unit and did not want to leave. The property was wonderful and everything we needed was provided. The location was great and we rode bikes or walked nearly everywhere we needed to go.The unit was very nice and bigger than it appears in the photos. Tracey was very helpful and even helped book a couple of the sightseeing excursions we went on. The caretaker checked in with us nearly everyday to see if there was anything we needed. We hope to make a return visit to the Hollinsed House!"
