  • Lovely place

"We stayed here for a week along with 2 other couples. Place is beautiful and plenty roomy enough for 6 people. Comfortable beds, and very clean. Thoroughly enjoyed the pool and outdoor lanai, as during the hot afternoon hours, we would return to the villa and float, often repeating this when we returned home at night. Also used the gas grill. 1/2 block to groceries (Fausto's food palace), a block from Walgreen's on Duval, and within walking distance to all the nightlife. Great place and location."

  • Just Beautiful

"We were just there July 17-24. Great location, beautiful sunsets on the deck and you can walk everywhere. We rented bikes for the week. Fort Zachary beach is only a mile. The condo has everything you would need, so pretty. Pool is a walk away. We had 2 issues though, one-when we got there, the people that rented before us, left pancake mix and other things in cabinets. There were tiny little ants in the kitchen cabinets and on the dining room table. Once I threw everything out and cleaned up with bleach spray, the ants were gone. Second issue was with the kitchen power being out, the outlets, (toaster, coffee pot, microwave, blender). Contacted housekeeping and they had someone come and fix. It took a few days though (notified them Fri morning and it was not fixed until Mon afternoon). That was a pain. Overall the vacation was a lot of fun and this condo is beautiful!!!"

  • Turning 50 getaway

"We rented this condo for a getaway vacation with another couple and it was just excellent for 2 couples. The condo was very clean and nicely stocked with just about everything you would need to get away. Water views over the harbor area where the boats come in and out. Nicole was super to work with and a very gracious host. Nice location within walking distance to all the Duval St. action, about 8-10 blocks to get to the heart of the action there. The seafood festival was going on right across the street so we were able to enjoy that fun event. We didn't use the pool as the temps were unseasonably cool and we were busy doing other things. Nice place for a reasonably priced getaway in a wonderful location! Thanks Nicole for everything - we will be back with the kids for another stay hopefully soon."

  • Great Location - Comfortable with Key West Character & Charm!

"Our family of four (kids ages 12 & 14) stayed in the Caribbean suite 3 nights over Super Bowl weekend. We prefer VRBO properties over hotels. I searched many listings before finding this place. Similar listings did not allow guests under 18, nor offer a pool and were higher priced. The location is great – only a few blocks from Duval on a quiet street and a 20-minute walk to Mallory Square. No problem finding parking on the same street block. The pool was heated and the brick courtyard had lounge chairs, sunny and shady spots to sit, and a fountain that provided a relaxing background sound. There are 7-8 individual (condo-like) properties within the Hollinsed House complex. The Caribbean suite has a nice outdoor space with the private front porch. The interior is a good size with a comfortable living area and bedrooms with drawer space. The furnishings and accessories are a bit eclectic but the home was clean and well stocked with plenty of towels for the bathroom and pool, toilet paper, and paper towels. The kitchen is small but recently updated and functional. The bathroom is also small and could stand to be updated but overall, it was functional and clean (though the grout in the bathroom tile shower could be cleaner.) If you need to do laundry, you can use the shared washer/dryer for a nominal fee after the housekeeper is finished for the day. Wi-fi worked great. Our only complaint was the small 20-inch TV in the LR. We didn’t want to drag the boys out to a bar to watch the Super Bowl so we had to watch the game on this TV. Not the best for my fanatical football fans! With flat screen TVs so inexpensive these days, the owner really should spend a few hundred dollars to upgrade. The property manager, Tracey, was very friendly, responsive, and easy to work with – we spoke by phone and email and she answered all of my questions. Check-in was easy and exactly as described. I called her on our departure day to let her know about a couple of minor repair items along with our suggestion to upgrade the TV. She was very receptive and appreciative of the info. Additionally, the housekeeper, Ruth, is very nice and helpful. Overall, this place is a great find if you are looking for: a convenient and quiet location; old Key West charm and character; and comfortable/clean accommodations with a pool. If you prefer everything new and modern with designer décor, stay at a fancy hotel and pay a lot more. We hope to get back to KW and stay here again. Thanks Tracey!"

Private Homes, Unspecified Travel Tips

Why You Can't Pass Up Key West House Rentals

There's a reason why famous people, like Jimmy Buffet, love Key West. The small island that sits on the southern-most part of the United States is probably one of the most relaxing places you can visit. People there are on "island time" and things move at a slower pace. People staying in one of the many Key West house rentals will find all the comforts or home, but none of the obligations. Whether it's a leisurely stroll on the beach next to your Key West beach rental or walking around town, before you know it, you too will have adopted the laid-back island demeanor that the locals already have.

Experience Key West through Hemingway's Eyes

Those staying in one of the many Key West vacation rentals will soon discover why the famed author adored the small island so much. From 1931 until his death, Earnest Hemingway lived in a Spanish Colonial home in Key West with 50 of his feline friends. While living in the home he wrote some of his best work including For Whom the Bell Tolls. Now the house is converted into a museum that's open to the public on a daily basis. In addition, to touring the house and grounds, guests will discover that the ancestors of Hemingway's beloved pets still roam the grounds.

The Key West Shopping Experience

While you'll find items like bathing suits, sandals and sunglasses in the small shops lining Duvall Street, there's one item that you'll find everywhere you go: T-shirts. Regardless of which Key West house rentals you stay in, you'll find some kind of T-shirt shop nearby. Most of the T-shirts have different sayings and make good souvenirs to take home from your vacation. From cigars to souvenirs there are always plenty of places for you to shop near all of the Key West beach rentals.
