  • Travel like a Local

"I stayed at the Golden Heron for the first time and let me tell you this house is AMAZING!!!! It has everything you could possibly want and much, much more!!!! This house is so unique (even has an open living room space) and has been remodeled with many nice upgrades. It has the true Key West charm and for a handful of days, I actually felt like a local. Aside from never wanting to leave the house, the walk to Duval street is less than a mile and if you are looking for local restaurants, you don't have to stray too far. Local cuisines are about a block away. I would most definitely stay at the golden heron again. Do not pass up this opportunity to get a true Key West feel!"

  • Wonderful retreat!!

"I did a lot of research prior to booking our hotel stay in Key West. I fell in love with this cottage from the start, and was never disappointed once we arrived. The location was great. It was near all of the downtown action yet felt so private and secluded. There were times I could hear some noise from Duval Street (especially when all of the bikers came to town), but it did not keep me from sleeping. The "compound" as it was called houses 4 or 5 cottages behind locked gates. They all share a beautiful pool surrounded by lush tropical plants and walkways. We never saw anyone else in the pool the entire time we were there (5 nights). There is a sweet cat that greeted us each time we returned home, and that was a nice touch. Parking can be an issue in Key West, but we lucked up and were able to get one of the few spots right out front on 2 occasions. After taking a day trip to Bahia Honda State Park we lost our spot and had to pay $25 to park overnight in a lot right behind Ann St. Key West is a walking city so if you get lucky enough to find a spot try to keep it! Just a little hint too--if you get a spot right out front, go inside and use the key to unlock the private gate off of the patio. This leads directly to the street, and you can bring your luggage in right to the bedroom from there. The cottage itself is very quaint and tastefully decorated. It was clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The walk in shower is awesome! Being in such a tropical climate I did see a few ants and 2 "palmetto bugs" in the bathroom. I also had a very small lizard that would visit me in the laundry area at times. This didn't bother us or detract from the beauty of the property. There is a private patio area off of the bedroom/living room that has a grill, lounging chairs, and a table with seating for 4. There is a shared washer/dryer in the compound, but this cottage also has a washer/dryer of its own. We loved this because our clothes were always sweaty from the heat and humidity. There is a safe in the laundry area too that we utilized a couple of times. It was nice to know your extra cash and jewelry were locked up when you were away for the day. Dean was very easy to deal with, and was always quick to respond when I had questions. I absolutely loved this place and would return again if I came back to Key West! I hope this review is helpful and you enjoy your stay as much as we did."

  • Just as advertised!

"Excellent location, clean, comfy, and close to all the fun things to do in Key West. Everyone we met at this community were very pleasant and we had a great time. And the location - right next to the pool - allows you to use the pool restroom as a second restroon during pool hours. Only negatives are the units have very thin walls (you can hear your neighbors TV or music), and a lot of light bulbs were out. Found some replacements, but not enough. Otherwise, this condo offers excellent value for the money spent. Will consider again."

  • Perfect Escape From The Polar Vortex

"This Key West getaway condo is a wonderful escape from the freezing temperatures of the northeast. I was here once before and noticed this time that there is a beautiful new ceramic tile floor which gives a bright airy feeling to the place! l loved also that the beach was right across the street, and from Key West by the Sea I could bike to most anywhere on island. The kitchen had everything I needed to prepare meals and after dinner on warm evenings it was great to be able to cool off with a refreshing dip in the pool which is just a three minute walk from the apt. It feels like heaven to wake up in the morning and walk through the lovely flowers and garden that surround the pool area. It's very convenient and easy to get around this complex with their elevators and push carts for luggage, groceries, and laundry. The location is very nice - only a quick trip to downtown by car, bus,or bike, but far enough away if you want to retreat from the hustle bustle of the main drag. Great place for adventure or total R&R. Only wish I could have stayed longer!"
