Excellent relaxing stay!
"We are very familiar with Shipyard Condominiums in Truman Annex as we've been coming to Key West for several years now.
Our one week stay at A piece of Paradise was really pleasant and met all our expectations. The location is quiet, and the condo is very well maintained, nicely decorated, well equiped and quite comfortable. There are even 4 beach chairs and noodles which were really practical as we often went to Fort Zachary Taylor Beach.
We did not have the chance to meet Donna but we could feel she cares very much to make sure her condo is in great conditions to satisfy her customers.
Thank you Donna and we'll be looking forward to coming back in 2016!

"We're a couple that likes to spread out, and the cottage was perfect for our getaway. It is very spacious and exactly as pictured. The cottage was spotless on arrival and everything worked properly, including the A/C (and we like it cold). We only used the master bedroom on the second floor, but there is a nice guest bedroom on the first floor that would allow for larger groups or families. The owners were very easy to work with and we had no problems leading up to or during our stay.
The cottage is located a 15-20 minute drive from the airport and a 5-minute walk to Duval. You can easily walk to any place in old town in about 15 minutes or less. We also walked to the marina for our snorkeling excursion, which is also where you can get the ferry to Dry Tortugas National Park. We opted to take a sea plane there instead of the ferry (highly recommended); for that we needed to drive to the airport.
While the cottage is attached to a row of houses, as an end unit duplex it really feels like a stand alone, not an apartment. It has double height ceilings, giving it a very open and airy feeling, and the side and back windows look out to lovely tropical trees and plants. The front of the cottage is on a road that gets some traffic, including trucks, but the advantage is that you can sit on the porch and people watch, since it it the main road leading to the beach and a lot of people walk or bike there. Traffic noise was no problem at all. The same can't be said for the roosters, but that's a fact of life in Key West. They make sure you don't sleep too late, no matter how much partying you did the night before!
The complex has a decent sized, very clean pool a few steps from the back of the cottage, so you don't need to cross any roads to get to it. The pool furniture is not the most comfortable, just plain hard white plastic with no cushioning or webbing. Shade is limited at the pool, but when we were there it was too hot for us even in the shade so we didn't spend a lot of time there. The beach (Fort Zachery Taylor) is also a 10 minute walk. Make sure to wear water shoes, because the beach and ocean are very rocky.
All in all, the cottage is the perfect mix of size, amenities, and location. I highly recommend it for a visit to Key West."

"My wife and I have been to Key West many times (9x to date) and we have stayed at all the resorts. We decided to rent a condo at the Shipyard with our teenage sons in tow - and we could not have been happier. The unit was clean, well appointed, close to everything - but extremely quiet at night (an important fact!). Julia, the management company representative was very helpful and took extremely good care of us. We'd suggest this location to someone new to KW - as well as those experienced travelers looking for a change of pace."

"2nd visit to Key West, and we now see that we totally stayed at the wrong place last time! Susan's place was perfect! Clean, beautifully decorated and quiet. (after a few days, we didn't even mind the roosters). Just a couple blocks off Duvall, just a few steps to a great pool, and with the complimentary bikes, we were within biking distance of...well..everything! Our neighbor, Lois, was delightful and we enjoyed visiting with her on numerous occasions. Susan and Bruce are a great couple, and do their very best a making sure their guest have a wonderful time. We really enjoyed our breakfast with them and the tour that followed. (Their place is awesome and her car is way too cool!) As this was our 36th anniversary trip, their gift of wine and chocolates was an unexpected but very much appreciated touch. We have already let Susan know we plan to return to Key West next year and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. We highly recommend Susan to anyone looking to have a wonderful Key West experience. A better host you'll not find anywhere! Thank you Susan and Bruce...see ya next year!"
