  • Amazing place to stay! Absolutely perfect and relaxing!

"We absolutely loved staying at this condo. It was perfect for us and could not have been any better. The place is exactly as described, cozy, spacious, private and quiet, sparklingly clean and very comfortable. There was plenty of room for the three of us. The kitchen came with everything we needed. We had bath towels, beach towels, books, TV in every room, which we never used ;-) helpful information about the house and surrounding area. Views from the back veranda are amazing. We spent so much time outside, having breakfast, reading, relaxing, talking. There was a pool as well and we seemed to be the only ones using it at that time. We really loved the location and the quiet atmosphere. We were able to get to Duval and downtown in less than 15 minutes but we were also far away enough from the hustle and bustle to get some peaceful sleep at night. Cynthia, the owner, was awesome! A very cool, super nice, easy-going person, always helpful with any questions we had. She gave us many tips, where to go, what to do, where to eat. It was our first trip to the Keys and staying at Cynthias Ocean Front Condo made our vacation a wonderful experience. Thank you Cynthia for everything and we are really looking forward to staying at your Condo again :-)"

  • Amazing Vacation Aboard the Aria!

"Can't say enough good things about our family's Spring Break aboard the Aria, but here goes...The boat is beautiful, clean, and functional, even for our family of 6. Location at the main Bight marina on the west end of Key West (with plenty of nearby parking) is perfect for easy access to Duval Street, Dry Tortugas Ferry, and a host of excellent restaurants. When the crowds clear out at night, the peace and quiet at the marina were blissful. Captain Mark and his crew were excellent: polite, knowledgeable, quick to respond when we had questions, and lots of fun besides! The rental price included a stunningly beautiful sunset cruise; and the upgrade for an afternoon of snorkeling was worth every penny. Even had grandma swimming and snorkeling over a reef about 5 miles out from Key West. To top it off, the rental price for the whole boat was about half what we would have paid for hotel rooms. If you're thinking about heading to Key West, stop searching now and book the Aria. You will love it; we sure did."

  • Happy As Always!!

"This is our third or fourth time renting from Michele and Narcaline. As always, we were very happy with our stay!! We brought our bikes and golf clubs this time and it was a great choice, my son and I rode the west end of the island every morning and as a family, we rode down to the beach often. Looking forward to our next stay!!"

  • Wonderful retreat!!

"I did a lot of research prior to booking our hotel stay in Key West. I fell in love with this cottage from the start, and was never disappointed once we arrived. The location was great. It was near all of the downtown action yet felt so private and secluded. There were times I could hear some noise from Duval Street (especially when all of the bikers came to town), but it did not keep me from sleeping. The "compound" as it was called houses 4 or 5 cottages behind locked gates. They all share a beautiful pool surrounded by lush tropical plants and walkways. We never saw anyone else in the pool the entire time we were there (5 nights). There is a sweet cat that greeted us each time we returned home, and that was a nice touch. Parking can be an issue in Key West, but we lucked up and were able to get one of the few spots right out front on 2 occasions. After taking a day trip to Bahia Honda State Park we lost our spot and had to pay $25 to park overnight in a lot right behind Ann St. Key West is a walking city so if you get lucky enough to find a spot try to keep it! Just a little hint too--if you get a spot right out front, go inside and use the key to unlock the private gate off of the patio. This leads directly to the street, and you can bring your luggage in right to the bedroom from there. The cottage itself is very quaint and tastefully decorated. It was clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The walk in shower is awesome! Being in such a tropical climate I did see a few ants and 2 "palmetto bugs" in the bathroom. I also had a very small lizard that would visit me in the laundry area at times. This didn't bother us or detract from the beauty of the property. There is a private patio area off of the bedroom/living room that has a grill, lounging chairs, and a table with seating for 4. There is a shared washer/dryer in the compound, but this cottage also has a washer/dryer of its own. We loved this because our clothes were always sweaty from the heat and humidity. There is a safe in the laundry area too that we utilized a couple of times. It was nice to know your extra cash and jewelry were locked up when you were away for the day. Dean was very easy to deal with, and was always quick to respond when I had questions. I absolutely loved this place and would return again if I came back to Key West! I hope this review is helpful and you enjoy your stay as much as we did."

Key West Area Travel Tips

If some of your favorite things include warm, sunny days, glorious beaches, laid-back atmospheres, literary figures and history, then Key West is the ideal vacation spot for you.

Once you arrive in this Florida city, your tension will instantly melt away as you spend afternoons saltwater or deep sea fishing, sampling the local cuisine at the various restaurants, hiking through the backcountry or exploring the underwater world of coral reefs as you dive and snorkel.

Key West is also home a wonderful literary history where you can learn about and experience a variety of writers, playwrights and poets including, most famously, Ernest Hemingway. However, Tennessee Williams, Robert Frost, Shel Silverstein and Wallace Stevens also made their mark on this Florida hub.

There's something to please everyone here in Key West whether you like to spend your vacation days exploring and having adventures or you prefer to lounge about letting your mind and body relax. Either way, you're sure to have a wonderful time here while you soak up the sun.

Things to Do in Key West

- Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum: Lovers of literature and Hemingway fans must put a visit to the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum on their list of things to do in Key West. The home served as Hemingway's residence during the 1930s and was the first on the island to have indoor plumbing. Notable features included a built-in fireplace and a swimming pool. Surrounding the home are the gardens, which are stunning in their own right. Tropical plants, lush greenery and colorful florals are lovely to see. One of the most unique and fun features - especially for animal lovers - are the 40 to 50 cats that live here, about half of which are polydactyl (six-toed). Hemingway was given a polydactyl cat by a ship captain and some of the current cats are descendants of that original feline, Snowball.

- Dry Tortugas National Park: Spend some time exploring nature through the almost 70 miles of Dry Tortugas National Park that's mainly open water surrounding seven small islands. Here you'll find sparkling blue waters, Fort Jefferson, amazing coral reefs and a collection of birds flying overhead. Whether you're looking to spend some time bird watching, snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, fishing or a little bit of everything, this national park is one of the best places in Key West to do so. Dry Tortugas got its name from the plethora of turtles found in the area, so keep an eye out for loggerhead, hawksbill, green and leatherback turtles in the waters.

- Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory: Enjoy the magic and wonder of colorful creatures and beautiful flora and fauna at the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. You'll find an expansive collection of flowering plants, birds, waterfalls, trees and hundreds of stunning butterflies. There are 50 to 60 different species here, as well as more than 20 exotic birds. It's a lovely place to slow down and let stress melt away, and kids will have a great time chasing the butterflies and marveling at their patterns.

- Saint Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum: Ahoy, mateys! Take a break from scouring the seven seas and step back in time to find out if the pirate life is for you at the Saint Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum. Here you can peruse more than 40 different exhibits featuring the biggest and most authentic collection of pirate artifacts, including Blackbeard's original blunderbuss, gold pieces from his warship - Queen Anne's Revenge, one of three remaining authentic Jolly Roger flags, and Thomas Tew's original treasure chest. There are even hands-on opportunities to see what it's like to fit the wind as you steer the ship and find out what a real cannon feels like.

Dining in Key West

- Blue Heaven Restaurant: For a casual Key West dining experience head to Blue Heaven Restaurant where you can dine indoors or out, watch live entertainment and sample Caribbean (or vegetarian) cuisine. In keeping with the animal theme, cats and chickens roam the premises and add extra fun to your meal. The restaurant is one of the most popular in Key West and favorite dishes include blueberry pancakes, carrot and curry soup, scallops provencale and miso-marinated eggplant salad. Be sure to save room for some of the island's best key lime pie!

- Sloppy Joes: Dining at Sloppy Joes is a Key West tradition. Since 1933, this has been the place to find a welcoming, hospitable staff and a great place to enjoy a night out. Sandwiches, wraps, salads and pizza dominate the menu in addition to a great beer, wine and drink menu. Starting at noon, live entertainment kicks off and continues through the wee hours of the morning, making for a thrilling place to spend time and let your hair down. Sip cocktails while you tap your toes along to the music, or dine on a delicious meal while you enjoy your travel companions' company in this cool setting.
