Recent Lower Keys Area reviews

  • Three weeks in paradise.

"We recently returned following a three week stay in paradise (Tiki Beach at Big Pine Key). We had a wonderful time and totally enjoyed the accommodations and facilities. It was pure heaven sitting on the beach or sitting by the pool. Relative to other reviews indicating that the pictures did not do the property justice, I think the pictures are all accurate, however what they don't convey is the wonder feel of the place. It is truly enchanting and provides an authentic old keys experience. Stanley, our high energy labradoodle, had the time of his life exploring the grounds and visiting with his new parrot friends. Mark my word, if we win the big lottery, we will be down to offer an outrageous amount of money for the property because it would be worth it. Thanks."

  • Beautiful paradise

"I cannot say how much we loved this house! We spent one week in this tropical paradise. We were 6 people: my husband and I, our 3 children (16,13 and 10) and grandma! There was something to do everyday for everyone! The house was very clean, beds were very comfortable, kitchen had everything one needed... The pool was perfect... Even though it is small my 10 year old would spend most of her time in it. The older kids enjoyed the dock fishing and using the kayaks in the bay! We all enjoyed snorkling just a few miles away from the house and caught some delicious lobsters. We also took day trips to Bahia Honda and key west which are both just a short trip away! There is a store right down the road for things you might have missed and bait for fishing. The key next to Cudjoe key has a Winn Dixie where you can get all your supplies for the week! We enjoyed watching the iguanas sunbathe every morning on the sea wall.. The kids named then Ralph, Zoe and jasper. We also rented a boat in summerland key for 2 days. It worked perfect to go to Looe key snorkling and explore nearby islands. We used it to go fishing, lobstering and snorkling! Shannon has a recomendation folder with all the local restaurants and their menus. This was very helpful. We enjoyed the quietness of the area, sunrises, sunsets and incoming thunderstorms which would only last about 15 min. She also has two other properties next to each other but they all have their own boat dock and private beach access! I do think thought that the tropical paradise has the most privacy. The house also comes with a washer and dryer which was very handy with kids. We had to contact Shannon about a problem with the pool but she was there in 20 min. and solved it very quickly. Overall I can't wait to go back to this beautiful place again. Thumbs up all the way! Thanks Shannon for this beautiful house!!!"

  • Perfect location on Big Pine Key

"This was our second visit to Ocean Breeze Cottage. The location, waterfront view, morning sunrises and wildlife are all reasons for a return visit. Add to these a beautifully decorated cottage, well equipped kitchen and many amenities provided by the owners for their guests' comfort and entertainment. Time spent here is relaxing, peaceful and fun. In a word, paradise."

  • Perfect place for a large family or two couples

"We stayed for 9 nights. We were 2 couples. This is a gated, 24 hours security gate/guard community with excellent amenities: Its own snorkel area with shark screen and its own large marina !! hot tubs, salt/fresh water pools, tennis courts, amenities hall with ample books, ping-pong tables and enough room to sit and even its own convenience store and a pub/restaurant within the property. Ample kitchen items. We did need to stock up on toilet paper, paper napkins, shampoo and laundry detergent. There is no Internet connectivity inside the home, but the amenities hall (open till 11pm) has free WiFi and wired connection. There is nice back patio with new patio furniture. The walk in the cool evening breeze looking across to the ocean was nice. The community is right on the water and you can see the expanse of the waters sitting near the snorkel area. Also we saw some people fishing right off the walkway at the marina. Wish we had kayaks. But we had dives scheduled with the DiveInnnerspace folks and we absolutely recommend them for diving at the Looe Key. They are a small operation (no more than 6 divers on the boat) and the service is fantastic. We also drove to Key West (30 minutes drive one way accounting for slow Key West city streets) for day trip to the "Dry Tortugas" The "The Wharf" and the "Square grouper" are the closest mid-upper range restaurants we tried. The square grouper is the best food we had during our entire trip. The wharf is second. Wharf also remains open on more days and longer. We just did not have the time to explore the snorkel area, but based on what we have seen in the keys, I am sure it is has things to offer, especially if you have little ones or kids and you can teach them to snorkel or just frolic in the real ocean water in safe quiet environment. Overall very good stay."
