  • This is the place!

"Beautiful, comfortable and oh the views! Sitting on the patio, or even better, the seawall, is so relaxing a fun. You can watch all manner of sea life swim by, including a manatee or two! The house itself was nicer than the pictures indicate. My husband and son are fisherman and spent HOURS catching fish from the backyard seawall. We had so much fun here. The location is just perfect."

  • All that and more

"Our group consisted of an 80+ to a 4 year old. A mother, 2 sons, 2 daughter in laws, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great great children. The point is we had plenty of folks and plenty of room, the house was everything advertised and more. There were no surprises. We caught fish from the sidewalk, had easy access to highway 1 to reach the places we visited. If you have pool heated remind them before you arrive as it took 3 full days for the pool to get warm, but that was a minor issue considering how wonderful Jim and Tudor were to deal with. If we return with a big group we would not hesitate to rent this house again."

  • Good, Almost Excellent but......

"First, The good.... This house would be rated excellent if it were rented as a 2 bedroom 3 bath house with it's own pool and dock. The master bedroom (king bed) and bath are absolutely beautiful! Very spacious with its own TV with satellite. The second bedroom (queen or full??) and bath is also very nice with plenty of room also with satellite TV. Large balconies for both with plenty seating on both. (I can't review the beds because I didn't sleep on either of these) A large living room area has ample, comfortable seating with a very large TV with satellite, a very nice sized bathroom with a shower and closet, a washer & dryer area and the dining area and kitchen are very modern and very spacious. All with beautiful furnishings and appliances, cookware and utensils for any need possible (even a note in the fridge to use any sauces if needed!!). OK, The bad.... The problem with this house lies with the so called "third bedroom."... This bedroom is in the basement which appeared to be an afterthought & not at all anything like the rest of the house. It was dark and musty smelling with the typical bugs you find in a damp basement. The small window a/c unit was kept at full blast the entire time to help rid the musty smell and we were constantly smashing little bugs. The bathroom was so small, not at all like the upper floors!!! You can practically wash your hands in the sink and wash your feet in the shower at the same time you use the toilet!! The shower itself was so small it was very difficult to wash your hair without banging your elbows on the sides. Oh, and the shower floor had duct tape, yes, duct tape on the floor. Apparently covering a hole, I don't know. The bed was a queen but was old, soft, lumpy and the sheets wouldn't stay on if you moved at all in your sleep. It also had a day bed which looked as if it was put there simply to fill a space. A great suggestion for that space might be a small fridge.....since the only entrance to this basement room is by the pool through the sliding glass doors with very cheap vertical blinds with slats that kept falling off!! It did have a nice TV stand with 3 drawers. The TV was a good size, however , the cable, not satellite like the others, was very spotty with a few local channels. Could say more, but.. Rent only if you want a great 2 bedroom/3 bath house with it's own pool & dock. Don't even consider the basement as living area!!!!"

  • Everything you would expect...and more.

"The house is exactly the way the photos decpict. It is beautifully decorated. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and spacious and the kitchen is well-appointed. The best part is the privacy and beauty of the property. My favorite part of staying at Mar Azul was waking up every morning from the master bedroom and looking at the ocean view. If you are looking to get away, this is the perfect vacation home. Lisa and her staff was a joy to work with. She answered every call and email. One night after a storm, some of the trimwork on the patio was damaged. I called Lisa to notify her and she had someone come out right away to clean it up. My husband and I are already trying to plan our next stay at Mar Azul for next year. Marathon is a convenient place to stay in the keys if you are looking to "key hop" to the other islands."
