  • Fantastic stay in Marathon

"Beautiful condo, very big (my son couldn't believe he had a king size bed AND a bathroom to himself as we used the en-suite :) very well equipped - there is a laundry room downstairs for washing clothes if you're staying for a while. Ideally located in the mid-Keys and in a really beautiful and quiet area of Marathon. I got up to watch the sunrise every morning from the beach and we watched most sunsets from the 5mn walk away Sunset Park and met with the same people every night (seems to be the thing to do at sunset time!) for a magical display of colours in the sky. Plenty of wild life around with iguanas on the beach too - quite funny creatures to watch... The pool is really big and was not busy at all when we were there - 5 people at the most at one time... Supermarkets are about a 10mn drive but there is a gas station nearby if you've run out of essentials. There is a breakfast/lunch coffee house nearby (Leigh Ann Coffee House - highly recommended, very nice) and a restaurant (Sparky's Landing) which offers decent meals. All in all, a great stay - lots to do in Marathon without driving too long: we swam with dolphins at the DRC, went to the Turtles Hospital, snorkelled on boat tours and drove to Key West for an afternoon (about 1hr drive). We even rented a boat in Key Largo (about 1hr as well) with some local friends to try and fish lobsters. Patti was very nice on first contact and then a property management took over, very professional and helpful when we arrived early and could check-in early. Would go back any time!"

  • Extremely accommodating

"Peter and Blanche were absolutely awesome to work with. My wife and I had been fortunate enough to get a few days off for our anniversary at the last minute. Peter and Blanche worked with us to accommodate the short notice in one of their beautiful places. A friend of mine was already in Marathon and was returning a couple of days before our arrival. We usually work a deal where he goes one week and we come down when he leaves and he lets us use his boat. Peter gladly allowed the boat to be dropped off at his place and stored until our arrival two days later. We stayed at 481 3rd St which is very close to the end of the canal. The location made it a short trip to either the reef or the bay side via Vaca Cut. The home was extremely clean, open, and comfortable. There is a washer and dryer in the home which was very convenient. There are more dishes, utensils, and pots / pans than any other home I have stayed at in the area. The kitchen area is very open with considerable counter space for food preparation. There are freezers at the bottom of the stairs along with a gas grills to cook up your catch. If you are worried about not catching anything don't....Peter is extremely knowledgeable with the waters and can give you suggestions on where to go, tackle to use, current fishing information. The duplex has two dock areas, one of which is a floating dock which we used. The floating dock allowed for our boat to always be at the same level and made it easy to load and unload. The ice machine was very nice to have and saved having to purchase several bags per day. Peter and Blanche live in the next building so if there is ever an issue, it will be addressed in no time. The entire time we were there, Peter was constantly working on keeping the location clean and functioning as it should. The man has more energy than should be allowed. If there is anything we needed or even brought up in casual conversation, Peter had a way to help us out and save us time and money. Peter and Blanche are retired school teachers and truly epitomize the concept of customer care. It was considerably nice to deal with the owners of a property instead of having to deal with a manger of a property as I have dealt with in the past. Both sides of the duplex are owned by Peter and Blanche as well as another home on 4th St. I would highly recommend staying at this home for individuals that like the feel of dealing with honest and friendly folks."

  • Great house with great dockage and access to ocean and bay

"We just got back from a month in this spot. We have been renting places in the Keys for a number of years and this house is one of the best. The dockage is great, there is a step down to get on and off easy, nice bumpers, hose, power (110 AC) and a fish cleaning station. I have a 33' boat with a bracket and it was a a pleasure coming in and out even with boats adjacent Heated pool right outside the door. Bait freezer in garage. House had just about everything you need with mostly new appliances including W/D. Convenient to everything in the Marathon area yet quiet and safe, I left my tackle on the boat for a month without incident. Owner was responsive to every request and even delivered light bulbs when one went out."

  • Perfect location;great home & neighborhood

"My husband and I did a Thanksgiving getaway and absolutely had a blast. Though we brought our bikes & intended to use the kayak, water was too choppy and spent most days biking around multiple towns. The home is extremely clean and we met several neighbors on late evening walks. If you forget anything from kitchen tools to bathroom necessities the marina down the block keeps everything readily in stock. Spend time on the dock or up on the roof when it's not too windy and scenery cannot be beat. We will go back again for sure!"
