  • Just sit back and enjoy the view!

"My daughter and I stayed here for a whole month in November. Eagle's View is a waterfront Rye Key home on stilts overlooking a beautiful area bursting with wildlife. Rye Key is a gated community on Cedar Key near the Museum State Park; it is extremely safe and private. The house was very clean when we got there. There is a great room with high ceilings, an open kitchen, fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher, plenty of plates/cups/cookware, big screen tv, comfy couch with a pet cover on it, and plenty of chairs for sitting. You get to sit on the couch inside and look out at the great view or sit outside on the enormous deck or inside the screened porch. The two bedrooms are far apart on each side of the house for privacy. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The master bedroom has a comfortable king-sized bed. We brought our own tv/blu-ray player to put in the bedroom, and a tv/dvd player are provided for you in the great room so you can watch movies and look out at the sunset over the marsh at the same time. Only nitpick would be cable reception, but great internet is far more important to us, and internet was very good, so shows we are decades-dependent on like soaps for me/Letterman for my daughter can be streamed online at the show websites. There is a washing machine/dryer in the closet as you come in. We really like the way the house is designed. Obviously a stilt home is going to have stairs so please keep that in mind if you have an elderly or disabled family member or friend or dog who might have trouble going up stairs. I am an 84-year-old widow, and our German Shepherd is about that in dog years, so it was a relief to know we both made it up the stairs just fine. There is plenty of parking space underneath and a storage room with bicycles, but we ended up renting a golf cart the whole time. A golf cart is expensive to rent for a month but mandatory; Rye Key is not comfortable walking distance from the downtown area, and it is much more pleasant to drive around Cedar Key in a golf cart than in a car unless it is chilly. There were many chilly days in November but many sunny days/warm days, too, and if you are there for a month, you are going to want a variety of weather anyway. We both loved being here, and we do hope to return one day again and again for as long as possible (especially if a golf cart is included HINT HINT :-)! Highly recommended!"

  • Perfection in Cedar Key!

"We have just returned from a weeklong stay at Family Tides. NEVER have I relaxed so much in such beautiful surroundings. It seems as if the Carters designed this statuesque three story home to respect the surroundings without competing with them in the least. From various balconies guests drink in the beauty of Cedar Key, its waterways and wildlife, its scrub oaks and native palms without once ruffling a single feather or deep- green bush. Ospreys soar gracefully as they work to build their massive nests stage front high in pines very near the house. In the distance beautiful sunrises light the morning activity of gulls and sand birds, of low tides with exposed sandbars. Everyday, all day is a cool breeze suggesting breathing deeply to simply let your soul catch up. The home clearly is the most beautiful in all of Cedar Key. We invited our children and grandchildren over for the weekend and loved paddle boarding and kayaking right from the nearby dock. Beds and privacy, bathrooms and a large verandah for visiting and blowing bubbles made this house perfection as a rental. Everything is spotlessly clean with just the right amount of art and furnishings to compliment all God had done outside. Beautiful dark wood floors intersect wide and cool tile floors then mix with the owner’s choices of cool colors from the sea. My favorite room was a guest room bath cleverly mixing yellow and white tiles with complimentary yellow pegs to hold the hotel quality towels. Also perfectly chosen fish art again reiterated the touches of yellows. The bedrooms are huge as are the baths. Clearly understanding guests love for a pet, the Carters welcomed our Sheltie “Rebel” and he loved it all too. The kitchen worked like a charm, but remained closed often enough to sample great restaurants in Cedar Key, whose pace is worthy of a hammock easily swaying in a breeze. The new restaurant Carlin’s was our favorite bar none! This was a vacation we will never forget, and should the Carters still be renting again, we will be back…OFTEN!"

  • Great Family Home

"We spent the week at this great property in Cedar Key. This was not our first trip to Cedar Key and as our family has grown, so has our need for more space. This home provided the indoor and outdoor space to fit all of our needs. The dock was a great place for the grandkids to explore the bayou and look for sea creatures. The great room provided plenty of space for our Thanksgiving dinner. The fireplace was a wonderful gathering place on the cool north Florida evenings to talk about the day and plan the next day's adventures. Our dog loved the yard and the remoteness of the house from the main road. Kayak launching was easy in the back yard and we enjoyed exploring the back bayou. Although it seemed like a long way away, downtown was a quick bike ride, golf cart ride or car excursion. We hope to be back. On our last evening the furnace stopped working. The rental agent quickly arranged for a repairman to come and the heat was back on in less than an hour. Great customer service Jeannie!"
