"Literally having 100'S of hours camping on barrier islands throughout Florida, I have to say that Deer Island is by far the most pristine, beautiful island around. Deer Island Dan (the property manager) has worked hard to make this island your ideal camping destination. With a long sandy beach, nature trails, fishing and many other amenities, I was never bored. Kudos to the owner and staff. I will definitely be returning in the near future."

"The town house was very clean with everything we needed. It was very close to everything you need from a grocery story to any kind of restaurant you could want. Stephanie was awesome in making sure that we had everything we needed. We will definitely be staying there again when we are in the area."

"First of all, this part of Florida is virtually unspoiled (if you like that sort of thing). The Landings Resort (where this unit is located) is a little utopia. You can bring your boat and golf cart. All the "attractions" are within a mile or 2 so cruise in the cart; it's perfectly legal. It's all about fishing and the water here. Fortunately when the kids are bored of that you can go to the pool, feed the goats and other animals at the petting zoo, archery, tennis, canoe, kayak or fish from the dock. Our favorite part was scalloping in Deadman's Bay -oooh scary. Really its a wide bay of super shallow grassy flats perfect for kids and scalloping during the season. This unit is perfect for an average size family -there were 5 of us and our small dog. It's a clean unit too and fully equipped - no need to buy salt/pepper and paper towels (I hate that!). All you need is to stock the fridge if you are cooking. Its in a perfect location. Most of all its a charming community and has all the luxuries of home. This is a great place to invite other families to rent additional units for a reunion or group activity."

"Spent a wonderful week in this paradise! Physically, the unit was clean and very comfortable. Plenty of pots and pans and glasses and dishes, etc.. for every need. The view is spectacular! In addition to the water and palm trees, we saw a wide variety of tropical birds daily, and most days we spotted dolphins fishing right by the dock - an awesome experience. We rented kayaks from a very nice and helpful local guy (Cedar Key Paddling), and paddled around a lot, especially enjoying a jaunt across to Atsena Okie - worth the visit! The condo is located close enough to the "down town" area that we were able to walk to dinner on the nights we didn't cook in. We found Steamers to be our favorite restaurant. Although we didn't have ours with us, it was nice to see so many dog-friendly places around Cedar Key. If I have to nit-pick...we're king-sized bed people, so the queen in the master bedroom was a bit cramped for us (but we knew what we were getting when we rented)! The pool area is beautiful, but it could use to be heated. The hot tub, however, was lovely. If you plan on eating in, you might consider shopping at a grocery store prior to arriving. While the Market has the essentials, the selection of fresh fruits, veggies, and meat was not the greatest. The stand next to the Marathon gas station, however, has lots of good fresh stuff, but was only open Thurs - Sunday. A ride 10 miles back on Rt. 24 to Richardson's Seafood Market is worth it if you want fresh fish - try the grouper filets! All-in-all this was one of the best places we've ever stayed - thanks to the owners for sharing!!!"
