"Had a very nice relaxing time watching the shrimp boats cruise by. Hired a local fishing guide and had a great day catching redfish. Out in the bay we witnessed a Spotted Eagle Ray leap out of the water about 200 feet from our boat. Earlier we watched dolphins circling a school of mullet, pushing them into a tight ball, and having lunch. Saw several bald eagles, roseate spoonbills, wood storks, oyster catchers, and more. Cleaning fish back at the dock, a river otter stole a fish carcass inches away from our feet....that was a shock but also a relief that it was not an alligator. Dave is nice man to deal with. The house had everything we needed. We'll be back."Guest: laurie j. Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 17, 2014View listing
"We wanted a place close to Gainesville to see family and this was just what we needed. We had a wonderful time. Cathy, the owner, was so sweet and gracious. I felt like I was speaking to a dear friend. It was nice to be able to bring our two dogs along for the family fun and they got to enjoy the outside in the totally fenced in yard. The house was clean, spacious and comfortable. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but for the price, I couldn't have asked for more. Although there is internet access (which was appreciated, especially by my teens), we did our best to unplug and enjoyed cooking out, playing games, watching movies with the kids at night and hanging by the lake. The water was refreshing, clear and so relaxing. Loved seeing the fishes and the setting was beautiful and peaceful! I would definitely go back again with the family. It was a time we will never forget and always cherish."Guest: Tracy R. Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 14, 2014View listing
"I was looking for a few days of rest/sun/relaxation and this house was perfect for just that!! We rented a boat from River Haven on Sunday and Monday - caught a few fish but with the cold weather, fishing just hasn't been good anywhere lately!!! We did catch some catfish off the dock......and one yucky eel!!!! Love the openess of the house and the view was wonderful!!! Definitely would love to go back to this house again."Guest: Jo Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: March 14, 2014View listing
"What can I say? Another great stay. We stayed for 4 nights for part of our spring break. Our 10 year old twins LOVED the cottage, the outdoors & had a great time. We brought our corn hole game, baseball gloves, flashlights, hotdog & marshmallow roasting sticks & had the BEST time. Day trips to Mayo city park, LaFayette Blue Springs were lovely. We had LaFayette to ourselves. Springs were browned out there & at Fanning Springs so no swimming there. We went further down one day with a cooler & picnic to Manatee Springs-kids had a blast swimming in the spring run. We grilled out, baked a lasagna, grilled out some more, did fire pit every night, ate on the deck & had tons of fun. I HIGHLY recommend if your children/family are "outdoorsy" kinds of folks. It was nice to finally meet Cassie after a couple of years of renting her properties. We are still hoping to be able to find a time to rent the beach house. :) This property is centrally located to many of the local springs if people are interested in diving. We sure did have a great time exploring the area with our children. If you are on a romantic get away, we highly recommend The Great Outdoors Restaurant for a special lunch or dinner. We did not go on this trip, as we had kids with us, but it was a recommendation from Cassie that was great. The beds are so comfortable-we called the master bedroom bed "the cloud" as the mattress topper was heavenly. So different from our Cub Scout/Girl Scout/softball/baseball busy lives. We slowed down & enjoyed some family time at the river. :)"Guest: Elizabeth M. Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 25, 2014View listing
