  • A Lovely Townhouse

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this clean, attractive, and very quiet townhouse. It's in a beautiful area with lots of gorgeous ancient trees, and only 5 minutes from the beautiful uncrowded beach. The living room is very comfortable, and the little patio/veranda is a great place to read. There were a couple of times when we needed to contact Deb, the owner, and she was immediately helpful. Everything we needed was there for us, and it is close to everything on the Island. As a bonus, her handbook has great tips on where to eat!"

  • Perfect for our 3 generations to spend Thanksgiving weekend!

"We celebrated Thanksgiving in Villa D with 3 generations and this beach house was perfect! Everyone had their own bedroom with bath, the dining room table was big enough for everyone to eat Thanksgiving dinner together, and the living room had plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable. The unit was very well appointed including having everything we needed to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. The short walk to the beach was SO convenient (even if the water was a bit chilly this time of year). We've never seen so many shells including huge horseshoe crab shells! We flew a kite, collected shells, took long walks on the beach, and just enjoyed spending quality family time together. We had never visited Amelia Island before and really enjoyed learning about the history and exploring Fernandina Beach. Even though this unit is located toward the south end of the island, nothing is very far away. After experiencing the holiday festivities at the Omni Plantation Resort, we were SO glad we chose this unit over the crowds and hustle and bustle there. We will definitely be back!"

  • Delightful old-fashioned beach house.

"Note: This review is based on the 3 bedroom, top floor apartment. Both 2 bedroom apartments were rented, but the owner had this larger one available. We spent the month of February, 2015 there and loved it. To us it feels like an old-fashioned New England beach house, comfortable and relaxed, a piece out of the past. It’s across the street from the sand dune leading to the beach and the view of the waves out of the front windows is something we never tired of. In both directions the beach stretches for miles and we’ve spent hours walking along the sands. In summer we’d probably have been swimming at least twice a day. The house itself will either appeal to you, or it won’t. It was originally built in the 1930’s, has been added to at least twice, front and back, has been moved back from the beach to lessen its vulnerability to hurricanes, and now is split into three rental apartments. It was built in an era when houses had fewer bathrooms than nowadays, and none of them is attached to a bedroom. The floor is the original wood, a little beat up after all the years, and, in true beach house style, the furniture is an eclectic mixture of older and newer. Our bed was comfortable. We enjoy cooking and we really appreciated having a well-equipped, functional and reasonably modern kitchen with plenty of cooking gear and dishes. The washer and dryer were another blessing. When the house was put in its present location, the native vegetation to the rear was left to grow. We liked having the natural backdrop rather than a view of the neighbors’ rooftops, and somehow it made climbing 26 steps not seem like a problem. The location was great. It’s across the street from one of the loveliest beaches in North America, it’s within convenient bicycling distance of the Greenway, Fort Clinch State Park, downtown, public swimming pools, and the fitness center at the Y. The third floor apartment is big – much bigger than we needed as a retired couple. We found ourselves thinking how well it would work as a summer place for our children and grandchildren, and what fun they would have there. So that’s what it is – a piece of “Old Florida”, a journey back to a simpler world. We loved it, and we’d love to bring our family here – but if you want granite counter tops, wall to wall carpeting, matched sets of furniture and 70 inch TV’s, it’s probably not the place for you."
