"We had a great time, although there were a few significant problems that detracted from our experience.
As advertised, the beautiful, private beach is just steps away, as is the lovely pool. Condo is nicely furnished, and kitchen is extremely well stocked. Numerous little extras – paper towels, dish and laundry detergent, other cleaning supplies, ketchup, coffee filters, sugar, and aluminum foil, just to name a few – saved us lots of time and money when shopping! Owner was easy to work with and very accommodating. The price he lists is the price we paid, unlike some other rental listings. He also provided helpful tips and advice. Checkout was simple – short list of common-sense instructions. Our dogs loved the beach (pets permitted 5 PM-9 AM). Beds were comfortable, and there’s ample storage space; owner provides plenty of beach chairs and towels, and bath and bed linens. Location is excellent – convenient to grocery and liquor stores, Trader Joe’s, Target, etc. Weather was perfect; with windows and doors open, the breeze kept us comfortable. There were no bugs.
There was a strong smell of smoke when we entered, coming from beds and pervading the condo. Airing out the condo didn’t help. I called the owner, who recommended swapping the bedsheets. However, the smoke had permeated the blankets and mattresses as well. We spent much of the first night and day washing all the sheets, blankets, mattress pads and covers, and inverting the mattresses. Finally the smell was mostly gone, but it took a fair amount of work, and the smell definitely disrupted our sleep the first night. And when we got home, we noticed the smoke odor on our clothes and luggage. We’ve rented over a dozen beach condos up and down the east coast, and this is the first time we’ve had this problem; another renter had a similar experience, so I wonder if there’s something more than bad luck.
Units on either side of us were being renovated, so there were 2 days of extremely loud noise that made it unpleasant to be inside. The building was also being power-washed, so for 3 days we had to bring all items in from the decks, and our use of the decks was limited.
It was a longer walk (1/4 mile?) along the beach to the nearest lifeguard station.
Rear 2nd-floor bedroom gets a lot of noise from the A/C unit the washer/dryer if in use.
Dogs should not be walked in the interior courtyard; we didn’t know that until the maintenance man complained angrily."
