  • Perfection!

"We just returned from a one week stay at the 2nd Haven Cottage. This is the 1st time I've ever cried leaving a vacation. This house is perfect. The yard was huge, my two doggies, Sofie a Cavachon and Sammy my King Cavalier were in heaven. This was the 1st time in their lives they have been able to just go out and run. We don't have a fenced in yard and they go outside on a line. They just had a blast. The house was comfortable and cozy and we loved the master bedroom. Everything you need is there. Even though the house isn't beach front, you can sit outside and hear the waves of the ocean. Mary's landing is just a short block away and you can drive and park and walk down to the most gorgeous beach ever! Unfortunately the weather was not good, and it rained almost every day, but we still had a wonderful time. The owners are welcoming and fun and I look forward to seeing them again. If you get the chance to see George and his band play at one of the local restaurants you are in for a treat! Make sure NOT to miss going to Ft. Matanzas on the river about 3 miles south of the house right on A1A, it is free and you take a ferry over to the fort. It was one of our favorite things we did. Also further down on A1A there is a Dolphin Marina Land where you can interact with the dolphins. We didn't do this because we didn't have suits with us. I am still depressed and missing our beautiful beach house! :-( We are planning to go back again next year and as often as we can. You will not go wrong renting this house, it is definitely an A+!!!!"

  • Just as advertised

"The home looks smaller online than in person. It is really large and very comfortably spread out. We had 11 guys on golf trip and we all had plenty of room to spread out and relax. We watched a couple of movies in the theater and it was really a treat. Great place to stay and would go back anytime."

  • Great Vacation Location

"great location - wonderful pool and hottub (just note that kids under 12 are not allowed in the hottub). The beach is amazing and super close. The accommodations are good - we had 4 adults and 2 kids and we had plenty of space."

  • Great stay in Crescent Beach

"Mr. Meyer is a cordial host who met us upon arrival. He showed us how to use everything in the condo. The unit is small but adequate for 2 adults. As advertised, the views are amazing. Our first night, we were woken up by the Easter sunrise service on the beach. I said "what the heck is going on out there?" as it was pitch dark and they had a huge lighting system pointed directly in our balcony window. It was only a few minutes and I guess they realized they were blinding the building and they moved their light. It was quite a production with musicians, choirs, etc. Several hundred came to the service. The sunrises are amazing and different each day, as are the sunsets. The Beachers Lodge staff seemed friendly and numerous. Every morning the were out cleaning the pool, mopping the walkways, taking out trash, etc. The cleanliness of the complex was good. The location was perfect for us. We typically like quieter settings but proximity to the hustle and bustle. We ride bicycles most of the time and it was a 50 minute bike ride to the heart of St. Augustine and we could ride south on A1A forever. We rode about 160 miles during our stay and the bike lanes are adequate for the most part. There were a few exceptions but we felt safe most of the time. The drivers appear to be used to bicycle traffic and were courteous. I only have a couple of negatives to report. The sleeper sofa in the living area was not comfortable. I don't know what it is about rental sofas but they are generally all uncomfortable. We made adjustments with the generous supply of pillows and were fine. It seems everyone in Florida smokes. It was impossible to avoid it and we are fairly sensitive to cigarette and especially cigar smoke. I think there were smokers in units all around us and someone was smoking around the clock because we could smell it almost continually. It was inescapable unless we closed the balcony glass door and turned on the AC. The internet was also unusable the first day. The speeds were worse than a dial-up connection. I called the provided tech number and within 30 minutes (on a holiday weekend) the speeds were once again usable and remained so for the rest of our stay. In closing, I would recommend this unit if you can tolerate smoking. I don't know if a totally non smoking complex even exists so that may just be a fact of life in condo land. We generally like to rent single units but could not find an affordable one."
