  • Celebration of Life

"I admit I was quite skeptical reserving vacation rental with owner, or anyone, residing upstairs. I prefer private beach cottages, as I seek complete peace and quiet for relaxation. I could not resist this rental after viewing pics and reading reviews, it seemed like paradise to me, and it was. I looked at many private oceanfront cottages, but decided on this rental due to the gardens, the outdoor decorative lighting, and other attention to details in decorating. I always feel like God orchestrates my vacations, and I trusted my instincts. They were spot on. So there is not a view of the ocean, the dunes are gorgeous, and sunrises are amazing both from what I guess would be called a lanai (I had to use that fancy word I learned from Golden Girls), and the short walk via pathway or Boardwalk to beach. The back patio/lanai is so relaxing and beautiful, and the ocean sounds are hypnotic, both during day and at night. Both indoors and out, this rental is a dream, and Patricia is wonderful and an excellent hostess, very accommodating, yet not intrusive in the least. Blue dog is just the best, I believe my Emma pup was sweet on him. Patricia contacted the day after arrival to make sure everything was sufficient, I mentioned the a/c took a while to cool, only as FYI, as it was then comfortable, though not quite as cool as desired. I assured her we were fine, and did not want to bother. This was on Sunday, and unit was serviced (charged) promptly Monday a.m. Patricia is awesome, both as a hostess during your stay, and with communication during reservation process. I see character limit is depleting, and I must tell the significance of my trip before it does. It was a girls' getaway with my best friend since 3rd grade (we'll just say that's been a while). We have stayed in touch over the years, very rarely seeing each other, and mainly via Facebook most recently. My friend fought and won the breast cancer battle this year, and we wanted a vacation of a lifetime, and we got just that. As I wrote this, I realized the unplanned appropriateness of the timing of our trip being in October. So ladies, get your mammograms, then getaway together to Patricia's awesome beach house for a celebration of life! While you are there, I recommend Beaches restaurant at the pier, and Ned's Southern Cuisine (Shrimp Jackson!) in St Augustine. Both Vilano Beach and St Augustine are awesome! Thanks so much, Patricia! We'll be back!"

  • Retreat getaway

"Perfect house to just get away! We had a couples retreat and the location was wonderful. The house was just as advertised. The kitchen was small and there was nothing In terms of spices ( salt, pepper, etc) but that was the only negative."

  • Family Get Together

"This was the first time dealing with VRBO which turned out to be very pleasant experience. The rental proved to be exactly what I was looking for. Condo had all the conveniences, including wifi. Location was great -- within walking distance you had all the conveniences. We took advantage of the Publix, ice cream shop, boutique, minature golfing and of course the beach! Old Town, St. Augustine was close enough that we spent 2 days there plus did a ghost tour that everyone enjoyed."

Florida North East Travel Tips

Northeast Florida Vacation Rentals for Your Next Trip

Northeast Florida has some of the oldest settlements in the United States. Discovered by Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513, both the Spanish and French established settlements in northeast Florida. With the advent of the Florida East Coast Railroad by William Henry Flagler in the late 19th century, the advantages of the area as a winter resort became more apparent. Nicknamed the “Sunshine State,” it is a popular vacation destination for families, couples, snowbirds escaping the northern states for the winter, and spring breaker travelers. Nowadays, St. Augustine, Amelia Island, Jacksonville and Daytona Beach are some of the most popular vacation destinations in the U.S.

Choose Your own Northeast Florida Vacation Rentals

The coastline of northeast Florida is lined with oceanfront condos and apartments offering fantastic vacation rentals right on the beach. Condos often have their own private balcony, a sun terrace and shared swimming pool overlooking the beach. The convenience of having these amenities and sun loungers just steps from your lodging makes good sense. Within your own vacation rental unit, the well-equipped kitchen can be stocked with cold drinks and snacks, helping to save you money during the vacation. Older children can come and go to the beach and pool as they please and everyone has their own bedroom space. A vacation rental usually works out to be much cheaper than a hotel, especially for a family. Couples can opt for a smaller unit or may share the space (and cost!) with friends. Those requiring a special diet will find the convenience of a vacation rental home a great advantage. Best of all, condo rentals are comfortably furnished to a high standard with every convenience in the kitchen from a washer/dryer unit to a dishwasher.

Things to do Near Northeast Florida Condos

Northeast Florida has plenty of things to see and do including the usual beach pursuits of surfing, metal detecting, sunbathing and fishing. Jet skis, windsurfing and bird-watching are popular pursuits. Visitors can also take a boat trip along the quieter Intracoastal Waterway. The area has plenty of museums, including the Wax Museum and Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in St. Augustine, lighthouses, national parks, golf courses and excellent shopping malls. Cycling and walking along the firm sands and boardwalks are popular ways to see the area. Art-lovers will enjoy a visit to the Cummer Museum of Art which has a fine collection of Japanese prints and 19th-century artwork in this beautiful mansion. There are also several botanical gardens in the area.

Getting to Northeast Florida Resorts

Many people drive to Northeast Florida. Those choosing to fly will find Jacksonville International Airport the nearest major airport to this area. It is just 16 miles from Amelia City lodging, 22 miles from the Jacksonville beach rentals and within easy driving distance of St. Augustine and Daytona Beach.

Neighborhoods to Visit From Northeast Florida Resorts

Amelia Island has some of the best beaches and sand dunes in Florida. It has the Fort Clinch State Park with a historic Civil War fort and plenty of shops and restaurants. Jacksonville has miles of beautiful sandy beaches along the barrier island and Atlantic Beach is a favorite with surfers. A little further down the coast from Jacksonville is St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city, founded in 1565. It has beautiful Spanish-style architecture and the oldest wooden school house in the U.S., in a replica village of the original settlement. Daytona Beach is home to Speedway Racing since cars first raced along the firm sands in 1902. Cape Canaveral is home to the Kennedy Space Center and offers a great day out. If you are really lucky, there may be a space shuttle launch during your stay.
