  • A relaxing getaway

"We enjoyed our stay at Paradise Retreat. This was our 4th year staying at this location. It has everything you would need, including it's very own pool. You really don't ever need to leave the comfort of this home. However, if the sounds of the waves pull you away to the ocean, the beach access is just a few steps away."

  • Home away from home

"Just spent a week at this wonderful home. The location and home are absolutely perfect. Early morning coffee outside watching the sun rise - priceless. The house was perfect - spotless and so well equipped. The kitchen has every imaginable cooking utensil and loads of silverware and dishes - more than enough for extra guests. The linen closet was fully stocked and tons of extra blankets and pillows. The beds were very comfortable. Plenty of hot water in the shower. The garage was full of beach chairs and toys - including fishing rods and a gas bbq (you can fish from the front yard - that is how close you are to the ocean). We watched dolphins pass by - three pods in one day! Grocery store about 15 minutes away. Internet worked great. Appreciated the land line phones as cell service is not very good in the area. All in all a perfect stay - wish it were longer. Owner was easy to work with. Keys were collected from nearby Real Estate agent. Would definitely stay again."

  • Awesome beach access and views

"Pats Blue Horizon was awesome. It is very centrally located and yet secluded. Our 12 year old loved getting up at sunrise to take pictures of the rising sun from the life guard chair just steps from the back door. We all loved the simple stroll to the beach right out the back door. Access to AIA made it very easy to explore other beaches and get to top notch golf courses, we spent time at the PGA golf World about a 20 minute drive and especially loved eating and watching the Badgers beat Kentucky at The Caddy Shack. Pat was wonderful and filled all our needs as well as her dog Blue. Thanks Pat for a wonderful time."

  • Ocean Ridge Mansion Review

"Overall a great experience. Plenty of space- having a bathroom with each room is a huge plus. Lots of areas to have pricy, read a book, watch tv etc. The beach was awesome and the pool refreshing. A few suggestions: 1. Pool guys need to come more often (we had to clean the pool each morning 2.Ceiling fans on the decks would be nice. The morning/afternoon sun mad it a bit toasty on the decks for eating. 3. Kitchen was HUGE and plenty of cooking area. Need to make sure that all the basic cooking pans, dishes are available. Several basic necessities were missing 4. Check inventory on towels. Very few washcloths."

Florida North East Travel Tips

Northeast Florida Vacation Rentals for Your Next Trip

Northeast Florida has some of the oldest settlements in the United States. Discovered by Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513, both the Spanish and French established settlements in northeast Florida. With the advent of the Florida East Coast Railroad by William Henry Flagler in the late 19th century, the advantages of the area as a winter resort became more apparent. Nicknamed the “Sunshine State,” it is a popular vacation destination for families, couples, snowbirds escaping the northern states for the winter, and spring breaker travelers. Nowadays, St. Augustine, Amelia Island, Jacksonville and Daytona Beach are some of the most popular vacation destinations in the U.S.

Choose Your own Northeast Florida Vacation Rentals

The coastline of northeast Florida is lined with oceanfront condos and apartments offering fantastic vacation rentals right on the beach. Condos often have their own private balcony, a sun terrace and shared swimming pool overlooking the beach. The convenience of having these amenities and sun loungers just steps from your lodging makes good sense. Within your own vacation rental unit, the well-equipped kitchen can be stocked with cold drinks and snacks, helping to save you money during the vacation. Older children can come and go to the beach and pool as they please and everyone has their own bedroom space. A vacation rental usually works out to be much cheaper than a hotel, especially for a family. Couples can opt for a smaller unit or may share the space (and cost!) with friends. Those requiring a special diet will find the convenience of a vacation rental home a great advantage. Best of all, condo rentals are comfortably furnished to a high standard with every convenience in the kitchen from a washer/dryer unit to a dishwasher.

Things to do Near Northeast Florida Condos

Northeast Florida has plenty of things to see and do including the usual beach pursuits of surfing, metal detecting, sunbathing and fishing. Jet skis, windsurfing and bird-watching are popular pursuits. Visitors can also take a boat trip along the quieter Intracoastal Waterway. The area has plenty of museums, including the Wax Museum and Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in St. Augustine, lighthouses, national parks, golf courses and excellent shopping malls. Cycling and walking along the firm sands and boardwalks are popular ways to see the area. Art-lovers will enjoy a visit to the Cummer Museum of Art which has a fine collection of Japanese prints and 19th-century artwork in this beautiful mansion. There are also several botanical gardens in the area.

Getting to Northeast Florida Resorts

Many people drive to Northeast Florida. Those choosing to fly will find Jacksonville International Airport the nearest major airport to this area. It is just 16 miles from Amelia City lodging, 22 miles from the Jacksonville beach rentals and within easy driving distance of St. Augustine and Daytona Beach.

Neighborhoods to Visit From Northeast Florida Resorts

Amelia Island has some of the best beaches and sand dunes in Florida. It has the Fort Clinch State Park with a historic Civil War fort and plenty of shops and restaurants. Jacksonville has miles of beautiful sandy beaches along the barrier island and Atlantic Beach is a favorite with surfers. A little further down the coast from Jacksonville is St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city, founded in 1565. It has beautiful Spanish-style architecture and the oldest wooden school house in the U.S., in a replica village of the original settlement. Daytona Beach is home to Speedway Racing since cars first raced along the firm sands in 1902. Cape Canaveral is home to the Kennedy Space Center and offers a great day out. If you are really lucky, there may be a space shuttle launch during your stay.

Weather in Northeast Florida

The northeast coast of Florida enjoys some of the best weather all year with sea breezes making the 90-degree Fahrenheit (32 C) summer highs more bearable. Winter daytime highs are around 67 degrees Fahrenheit (20 C) and the rainiest months are from June to September when short afternoon showers are likely.
