  • Perfect vacation

"My husband and I vacationed with our daughter and her family in this beautiful home after Christmas. We stayed in the upstairs master and our daughter's family stayed in the 3 downstairs bedrooms (king, queen, twin). The home is beautifully decorated (the pictures really don't do it justice), the beds and linens are top of the line, it has plenty of towels, the kitchen is well appointed, and the living space downstairs is incredibly open and accommodating for families. We did not use the screened in porch because of the cold weather, but it looked like a great place to read or have coffee in the morning. We loved all the artwork in the home! The kids worked puzzles and played games at the dining room table while the adults watched football games and visited. It was too cool to swim, but there are two pools available about 2 walking minutes from the house... maybe next time! Several evenings we walked to the beach to watch the sunset (the beach is about 3-5 walking minutes from the house). Beach chairs were available at the house but we did not use them. We loved the quiet neighborhood and the close proximity to what we love on 30A... the beach, restaurants, bike trails, Seaside and Watercolor shops. We enjoyed riding our bikes to Seaside for lunch at Bud and Alley's and the Great Southern Cafe. Even our 6 year old grandchild can ride with us there and back! "Be Somebody" is a real jewel and we hope to go back again this Spring or Summer. The owners were extremely nice and easy to work with. We highly recommend this home to other families looking to make great memories together. It is a beautiful, comfortable, warm and inviting space...we felt right at home at "Be Somebody"!"

Seagrove Beach Travel Tips

The quiet town of Seagrove Beach is located in the Florida Panhandle and the perfect place to visit anytime of the year. Seagrove Beach gets its name from a thick grove of windswept trees surrounding the community. Today, the town has preserved the green canopies full of oaks, magnolias, hickories and sand pines that are essential to its past.

In the early 1900s, Seagrove Beach was known as Russ's Hammock and accessible via a path from Point Washington, a small mill town. The McGee family were some of the first property owners in Seagrove Beach who discovered the area in 1949. Then, the only way you could get to the town was on a sandy trail off of U.S. Highway 98.

Palm trees, sandy beaches and relaxation are what you can expect in Seagrove Beach. It's a desirable destination for those who want to experience a peaceful getaway from a busy life and sit back and enjoy the sounds of the water crashing on the shore.

Seagrove Beach Attractions

The water in and around Seagrove Beach is clear while the beaches are full of sugar white sand. For this reason, spending some time at the beach is a must when you visit. You can swim, fish, build sand castles or just lay in the sun, but if you're looking for more to do, there's plenty of it in Seagrove Beach and the surrounding South Walton area.

Eastern Lake is one of the largest dune lakes in South Walton. Visitors stop here for canoeing, kayaking and YOLO boarding. Eastern Lake is also the trailhead of a hiking and biking trail that leads you through Point Washington State Forest.

Point Washington State Forest has more than 10 miles of trails for those who want to make their way through the 15,000-acre forest on bike, foot or just take in the beauty of the surrounding ecosystem. The most popular route for cyclists and hikers is from Eastern Lake to Cassine Garden where you may catch a glimpse endangered red-cockaded woodpecker or a gopher tortoise. The sand hills, basin swamps, wet flatwoods, wet prairie and cypress swamps that make up Point Washington State Forest make for the perfect stop if you want to get in touch with nature.
