  • Very nicely furnished and convenient to everything

"We have stayed in beach rentals at Dauphin Island, AL and Navarre Beach, FL. This was our first time at Seagrove and this townhouse met all our needs. It is very nicely decorated and the kitchen was especially well furnished. The view from the beachfront bedroom was perfect!. We will probably be staying here again."

  • Great cottage nestled in the trees near beach

"We loved our stay in Seagrove. The cottage (it looks and feels like a cottage but is really good sized - plenty of space) is very well appointed. It has a beautiful kitchen, great electronics for movie nights, beautiful porches and "crow's nest" decks for great stargazing. The first half of the week was me, our eldest daughter and her friends (high school seniors). My job was to stay out of the way. The teens had a blast, loved the beach and had a great time hanging out and cooking in. The house is nicely appointed to spend time with a group. Second half of the week was our family: my husband, me, our four children plus a friend; sleeps six comfortably (2 queen BRs, a daybed with trundle in turret plus a cool little daybed alcove off kitchen). Again, great amenities - great assortment of beach toys to the delight of our 8-year old and lots of decks and porches for "space" for our three teenaged daughters to hangout, sunbath and chat. The turret room and its porches were a huge hit with our girls. The beach is gorgeous and an easy walk (5 minutes tops). Great area to bike ride; easy access to bike paths so 14 and 12-year old enjoyed freedom to roam, safely. We cooked in most nights but there are great dining options a walk or short drive away. The owners, the Hoyts, were pleasant, accessible and responsive. All in all, one of the loveliest beach homes we've stayed in. This was our first stay in Seagrove and we will return!"

Seagrove Beach Travel Tips

The quiet town of Seagrove Beach is located in the Florida Panhandle and the perfect place to visit anytime of the year. Seagrove Beach gets its name from a thick grove of windswept trees surrounding the community. Today, the town has preserved the green canopies full of oaks, magnolias, hickories and sand pines that are essential to its past.

In the early 1900s, Seagrove Beach was known as Russ's Hammock and accessible via a path from Point Washington, a small mill town. The McGee family were some of the first property owners in Seagrove Beach who discovered the area in 1949. Then, the only way you could get to the town was on a sandy trail off of U.S. Highway 98.

Palm trees, sandy beaches and relaxation are what you can expect in Seagrove Beach. It's a desirable destination for those who want to experience a peaceful getaway from a busy life and sit back and enjoy the sounds of the water crashing on the shore.

Seagrove Beach Attractions

The water in and around Seagrove Beach is clear while the beaches are full of sugar white sand. For this reason, spending some time at the beach is a must when you visit. You can swim, fish, build sand castles or just lay in the sun, but if you're looking for more to do, there's plenty of it in Seagrove Beach and the surrounding South Walton area.

Eastern Lake is one of the largest dune lakes in South Walton. Visitors stop here for canoeing, kayaking and YOLO boarding. Eastern Lake is also the trailhead of a hiking and biking trail that leads you through Point Washington State Forest.

Point Washington State Forest has more than 10 miles of trails for those who want to make their way through the 15,000-acre forest on bike, foot or just take in the beauty of the surrounding ecosystem. The most popular route for cyclists and hikers is from Eastern Lake to Cassine Garden where you may catch a glimpse endangered red-cockaded woodpecker or a gopher tortoise. The sand hills, basin swamps, wet flatwoods, wet prairie and cypress swamps that make up Point Washington State Forest make for the perfect stop if you want to get in touch with nature.
