  • Sunny & Bright

"We loved Never Enough. The high ceilings made it feel very spacious. The bedroom configuration was perfect for our needs and the added tower room was a treat for the little ones. I would definetely recommend this house to family and friends and hope to return again soon."

  • Lovely Beach Cottage

"Shell Station is our favorite vacation place! We have stayed here over several years and it never fails to please. The house itself lives much larger than its actual footprint. Floor plan is open with a lot of natural light. Open kitchen lets cook be in the family action. There are several nooks, porches, decks, etc., that are ideal for escaping to read, reflect, or just soak up the atmosphere. My favorite place is the upstairs screened in porch which feels like a private tree house or aerie. It is very pleasant to spend afternoons and evenings here watching the rest of the world go by. The home itself is neat and clean and furnishings are relaxed and comfortable. Location is ideal to experience all of Seaside without getting in your car. This cottage meets all needs for a truly restful getaway."

  • Great Vacation

"Just got back from this charming cottage in Seaside. We had a blast and loved Fish Tales. It's so comfortable and cute and you can't beat the location, so close to the beach and all the shops and restaurants. We cooked lots of great seafood at Fish Tales and watched the Super Bowl. Also ate at all the restaurants. Loved the coffee house and Bud & Alley's upstairs bar. Walked that beautiful beach and rode bikes all over. Hated to leave and can't wait to go back."

  • Great location - smaller in real life

"This is the ideal location, you can't get any better. We are here with our 4 and 5 year old daughters, and we can walk the 40 yards to the beach, and two streets to the town very easily. I agree that the house is smaller than it looks, but perfect for a family of 4 or 5. The top bunk is up against a slanted ceiling, and has very steep ladder, so really only good for a bigger kid or an uncomfortable adult. The coffee maker was broken upon arrival (someone quickly came with a new one), but the TV/DVD player in the bunk room doesn't change channels or work for dvds. The kitchen could use an updating of equipment, not that many dishes, plates, etc if you are staying a week, but it does have everything you need. The beach umbrella provided is not a useable beach umbrella, and the chairs are a little beat up, but we just used the beach chairs and umbrella at the beach that you can rent. There are no screens on the windows to allow a breeze in (i'm sure that's to protect from humidity) but the screened in porch is fantastic. With all of these little things, it doesn't deduct from the amazing location of the house. And, we had a dozen fresh donuts delivered courtesy of the rental agency, huge bonus in the kids eyes:) We would stay here again for sure!"

Seaside Travel Tips

On the Florida Panhandle between Panama City Beach and Destin is the master-planned community of Seaside. Robert S. Davis inherited the land that became Seaside from his grandfather with hopes of converting it into an old-fashioned beach town. Seaside was one of the first cities in America to use New Urbanism design, which promotes walkabilty between neighborhoods and offers several different types of housing.

Waves crash into the Gulf Coast and visitors can swim and play in the clear waters of this Northwest Florida beach destination. The main beach in Seaside is accessible under a tall gray structure that resembles a cross between a pyramid and lighthouse.

Seaside offers visitors with a sense of community and the family-friendly feel is everywhere. The city is home to one of the best beaches on Earth and gained popularity as the filming locadtion for "The Truman Show" starring Jim Carrey.

Seaside Attractions

It's prime location on the Gulf Coast makes Seaside a popular place for visitors. There are three swimming pools, six tennis courts, a world-class croquet lawn and nature walks. Water activities are an obvious must when staying in Seaside. You can have just as much fun as the kids with sand volleyball, sandcastle building, sunbathing, swimming, fishing, snorkeling and a number of other water adventures.

Kids will love a vacation to Seaside where they can learn how to surf and go kayaking, snorkeling, skimboarding, boogie boarding and paddle boarding at Kidz Beach and Surf and Skim Skool.

If you'll be visiting Seaside in March, sign up to be a participant in the Seaside Half Marathon and 5k Race. Runners from all over the country flock to Seaside for the race and each participant receives a medal upon completion. The half marathon will pass through the neighboring communities of Watercolor, Grayton, Blue Mountain Beach and Santa Rosa Beach. You'll run along coastal Highway A30 and take in beautiful views of the water as you progress through the course.

Seaside is very much about creating things and celebrating artists in the community. The whole family will love a trip to The Repertory Theater. It was founded in 2001 and welcomes more than 25,000 visitors every year. The Emerald Coast Theatre Company performs there and is the only professional company on the Emerald Coast. they perform everything from fun kids shows to plays for adults.

In November Seaside hosts the Seeing Red Wine Festival, a nationally-known event. There are testing tents and wine samples from around the world with the option of purchasing your favorites to take home with you. The festival is held on the streets of Seaside and is one of the community's favorites. Tickets for Seeing Red are $120 per person and get you all the wine, food and music you could ever want. Special chefs will also be there to offer demos and samples of some of the best hors d'oeuvres you can find at local restaurants. Other wine events in the Seaside area include Vine to Wine at Seascape Golf, Beach and Tennis Resort, Al Fresco Reserve Tasting in Ruskin Place, Taste of the Beach After Dark in Santa Rosa Beach and Taste of the Beach and Charity Auction in Destin.

Things to Do in Seaside

30A Songwriters Festival: If you visit South Walton and the Seaside during the 30A Songwriters Festival, you can enjoy live music from a variety of genres providing entertainment. Deer Lake State Park: This park has the same name as a coastal dune lake within the same boundaries. Coastal dune lakes can only be found in the U.S. along the Gulf Coast. There are rare plants such as lupine, spoonflower, pitcher plants and one of the largest populations of Curtiss' sand grass in the state. Visitors to Deer Lake State Park will find this dune ecosystem and animals including migratory birds and butterflies. The beach is easily accessible via boardwalk and has beautiful views. Activities at Deer Lake State Park include swimming, fishing, hiking, picnicking, wildlife viewing and lounging on the beach.
