"We had a wonderful trip! My husband and almost 2-year-old son and I came for a quick 5 day vacation. Watersound is exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, kid friendly, and beautiful."

"This was our first trip to Watersound, after visiting the gulf for many years. We were a little put out from recent stays in very busy areas that lacked privacy and solitude, hence looking for a new venue. This place is a home run if your looking to access the more populated areas of Watercolor, ALYS Beach, or Rosemary beach without the amount of people - we rode bikes daily to visit shops, restaurants, etc - but were able to retreat to a private, beautiful setting. As far as the beaches are concerned - I don't understand a previous reviewers comments that the condo doesn't have a view of the water - if anything the picture of the condo's view is vastly underrated - we thought the view of the dunes, water, coastal ponds, etc was stunning. One of the reasons that this community is so secluded is that it is tucked in between state parks and protected dunes (the most spectacular we have seen on the coast) The view from the beach is from a couple of hundred yards (estimate) but we thought it was a gorgeous view. Condo - the condo is upscale with tasteful furniture, beds, linens, etc. Fixtures were all nice Kohler, and the appliances (which we noticed from the pictures) were all Viking. The doors were solid doors rather than cheap doors (if you have a two year old, you appreciate this fact) and just added to the luxury feel, rather than a rental feel of the condo. Having two small children, we were concerned with the distance of the walk to the beach - what we found was despite a small walk on the boardwalks, it was very manageable. The trade-off for us was that we enjoy a dip in the pool after the beach, and this condo has a pool directly off of the master bedroom that has code access and very limited use - we thought the tradeoff was great. It feels like your own private pool with a gorgeous view. The walks through the dunes on the boardwalk are an activity we haven't done before, and we loved it and took several long walks throughout the miles of dunes - took the annual family photos, etc. The owner was great to deal with and responsive and we plan on staying here again if they will have us. All in all we ranked this stay at the top of our long list of stays in the gulf"

  • August 2014 Stay

"We had a wonderful stay while at 8 N. Shingle. We 7 adults and 7 children from 8yrs. to 14yrs. We came from NC and from FL. We have been to the area before, with my parents hosting all the children and their children for a family reunion. They spent A LOT of time researching the "perfect" home. There was plenty of room for everyone. We were afraid the pool may be too small for the kids to enjoy but they loved it. The putt putt was so close and the bikes worked out perfect. We enjoyed some visits to the bigger pool and OF COURSE we LOVED our time at the beach. The kids loved the the top floor, the ladies loved the game table, and we all enjoyed the big kitchen table and family room. The only thing we wished we had was more time in this lovely home!!! Hope to be back again next year!!"

"Lovely stay & hate to leave. This picture shows the view from the deck. What a nice surprise to wake up to this view daily. Many nice amenities. Better than I imagined. If I had any minor complaint, it would be to put a shade on the front entrance door for more night time privacy. It's been wonderful; thank you."
