  • Great family reunion!

"My parents were planning to attend a military reunion in Sandestin, and my brother, my husband and I, and my cousin and her husband decided to come for the week for a family reunion of sorts. My parents and brother live in South Carolina; my husband and I live in Central Florida; and my cousin and her husband live in England. We couldn't find a 4-br house or condo that worked for us, so we decided to look for two 2-bedrooms close together, and Sandpiper was the perfect location. My husband and I ended up renting this 3-br villa to share with the English cousins, because we could bring our little dog with us, and my parents and brother rented a 2-br catty-corner across the street. Boy, did we luck out! Dealing with the owner was a pleasure. She is efficient and businesslike, while always displaying gracious Southern hospitalality! The villa is well laid-out. The kitchen works for cooking for a group, and is remarkably well-equipped for a vacation rental. Both Publix and Winn-Dixie are close by. The living room furniture is comfy and works for hanging out, and there are stools at the bar to the kitchen. We spent a lot of time on the patio that looks onto a little lake. We saw some beautiful sunsets! The beds were comfy and the bathrooms recently redone. There are signs of wear here and there, but nothing excessive for a vacation rental. We had minor problems with the plumbing, but there was a plunger that fixed it in no time. We thought we'd be going back and forth between the villas, but the layout of this one was far superior for getting together for meals or just being to gather as a family. I would recommend this for families of adults, families with children, 2 or 3 couples traveling together, a group of women friends, just about anyone who wants a home away from home in a lovely setting. My husband and I brought our pillows from home, and left them there. I emailed the owner, and she made arrangements with the housekeeper to send them back to us. Now that is service!"

Prestwick Place Travel Tips

Prestwick Place Vacation Rentals Are Close to Great Dives and Great History

Destin, Florida is globally recognized as a premier dive destination. The Okaloosa County Artificial Reef Program is rehabilitating miles of reefs damaged by years of pollution and rising water temperatures. Older sunken ships, and the thriving marine life found living within them, prove that this program is a valuable step in the right direction when it comes to saving thriving communities of fish and sea life. Prestwick Place beach rentals are close to the water, so the diversity found there can be truly appreciated.

Destin Bay Bridge Rubble Legend

One of the first projects in the restoration of the dying Gulf Coast reefs was the redistribution of the Destin Bay Bridge rubble. After the bridge was torn down and rebuilt, it was decided that the remains would be laid along the Gulf floor. Locals like telling that each night of the project, a fisherman adjusted the location of the marker. Thanks to his efforts the debris field spans a mile and a half as opposed to the single pile the authorities had planned for the project. Thanks in part to this anonymous man's efforts, and the effects of time and nature, this debris field is an artificial reef rich with life.
