  • Perfect Get Away!!

"We rented Lagoon To Sea for a family vacation for our family of 6 (plus our dog). The house is located on a quiet street and a short walk to a private beach. We could hear the ocean from the wrap around screened porch(which was great because the black flies BITE!! bring your insect repellant!) We had many nights on the beach watching the sunset all by ourselves. We fished, made bonfires, grilled out, went exploring, read, talked, and laughed... We were a little disappointed at first that there is no access to the lagoon from the back yard, but the view is pretty and we just spent our time on the beach. We brought two kayaks and we paddled in the ocean and to the nearby St. Vincent Wildlife Refuge. Very easy to get to and worth the trip. Leslie was great to work with and came right over when we had a small problem with a smoke detector. She was very helpful and always answered our questions in a timely manner. The house is extremely comfortable and we did not feel crowded. The kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked in most of the time. I recommend a trip to Indian Pass Oyster Bar, though. It was our only "night out" and we had a ball. We will DEFINITELY return to this slice of heaven. Thank you, Leslie, for a vacation that we will always remember. We hope to visit again soon!!"

  • 2nd Time Around

"This was out 2nd time renting this home and found it just as clean and comfortable as before. The month of October is a beautiful time to visit, only two rainy days and most days in the 80's. We brought our golf cart and enjoyed many trips to the beach for fishing or just watching the many birds. Fishing was much better on the lagoon side where mullet and flounder were netted and also bait fish to use catching red fish and trout. We didn't even go into the beautiful town of Port St. Joe for meals as the waters provided a bounty of delicious meals. Janna and Bob are the best and always close by, but not imposing. Thanks for the ramp extension----made easier travel for my wheelchair to enter and exit by. The screened in porch is a must to use for reading and listening to the many birds. Even saw 2 eagles squabbling over a fish one of them had caught. The neighbors are just great and even brought us a meal of smoked mackerel for our lunch. We enjoy coming to this part of Florida, so peaceful and beautiful and the Club House is just perfect for us to rent. If you like to just relax and enjoy nature and meet great people, you should give it a try. Daryl and Judy Daryl and Judy"

  • Gufenauf

"My husband and I came to Indian Pass for our honeymoon, and we are still having a hard time adjusting to the reality of being back home! This place is awesome and ended up being so much more than we expected. It's not your typical beach trip filled with souvenir shops and sky-rise hotels. The beach is about 100 yards from the house, and we were able to leave our chairs and umbrella there all week without them being disturbed. It's like having your own little slice of heaven. The Gufenauf has everything you could need except for food and has definitely been well maintained. We felt at home from the moment we stepped through the door. This beach is awesome for people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The area in general is great for people who love to explore nature. We visited St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and went into the Wilderness Preserve area. On the Gulf side, there are dunes as tall as buildings, huge waves (for the Gulf), pristine white, powdery sand, and no people for miles in either direction. On the other side is the bay that literally looks as blue and clear as the Caribbean. We also rented a tandem kayak from Happy Ours and paddled around in the bay one day. We saw all kinds of critters - stingrays, starfish, turtles. The best part, though, was finding out that the fins we saw in the water were nurse sharks who are coming into the shallow waters of the bay to mate. (On a side-note, I thought they were dolphins and insisted that we stalk them the whole time. It wasn't until we were finished that I found out they were sharks. And that they won't bother you.) If you love to fish, this is definitely the place for you. My husband fished off the beach near the house and was constantly catching something. The area offers all kinds of fishing charters. We saw a lot of people snorkeling/scalloping - something we wish we had done. We had some of the best food in our lives while we were there. Of course we recommend the Raw Bar - probably one of the coolest atmospheres we've experienced. We also recommend Triple Tails which is on the way to Port St. Joe and Joe Mama's Wood Fired Pizza and Pepper's (Mexican food) in downtown Port St. Joe. We really wanted to rent a golf cart, but unfortunately there weren't any available until the following week. So, if this is something you're interested in, call ahead of your stay! I could go on for days about how much we loved this trip. When can we come back!? :)"

  • Return Visit--Everything We Expected and More

"This morning after driving 900 miles north after a week at Starlight by the Sea, we saw the sun rise over a partially picked corn field. Beautiful but nothing in comparison to the sunrise from the master bedroom at this property over the gulf and St. Vincent's Wildlife Refuge. We stayed here in 2012 and looked forward to staying here again. We knew what to expect and it was everything and more. The location, the massive deck with comfort and view are prefect. The layout of the home is great for a couple or large family. The amenities are excellent. The owners are very accommodating and a great resource. The Indian Pass, Port St. Joe area is perfect for those wanting relax and enjoy the beauty of nature, great weather and fresh seafood. A perfect day for us at Starlight would be walks on the beach with our yellow lab, views from the deck of the gulf and beach and grilling fresh grouper on the grill on the deck. We hope to make a third visit to Starlight by the Sea in the future and highly recommend it."
