  • Well worth the price- beautiful beach home

"This was our first trip to Mexico Beach area and it is delightful. The beach is clean and uncrowded and the house is right in the middle of everything. I loved that we could go across the street for groceries and Mr. G's food trailer was amazing. We all loved it and ate there a few times. Try the brisket sandwich or tuna tacos, yum! Killer seafood and Sharons was also good. We were not too impressed with Toucans. The service there left a lot to be desired and the food was overpriced bar food. We did a sunset horseback ride with Two Bits stables down in Cape San Blas and they were great. Kayaked down there too. Very fun. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for our family of 7 adults. The 3 bedrooms upstairs all had TV's with cable too. The outdoor space was great, from the master balcony to the main floor balcony to underneath the house with a swing, rockers, a grill and picnic table and of course, a shower to rinse the sand and salt water off. The kitchen had all of the items we needed and even though there were a few minor items in the house that needed repaired, it didn't affect our stay at all. For the price we paid, I feel like we got a GREAT deal. I priced the other half of the duplex for the same week and it was much, much more than we paid for our side, and the unit was the same. The house next door with one extra bedroom rented for over double what we paid for it. The owner Kevin was also very nice to work with. ** My favorite thing here was the amazing sunsets with the dolphins playing just off shore. ** I would recommend this rental to anyone and would definitely stay here again. If this is available, you should try and reserve it before its rented to someone else, as the calender fills up quickly. I am really glad I did."

  • Great location!

"We loved the house as well as the location! It was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked not as previous reviews noted. My only request for the owner is that if you advertise sleeping arrangements for 8, you should supply more than 4 bath towels as well as linens for the sleeper sofa. Other than that, no complaints!!! We have already planned to book this place again when coming down."

  • We can't wait to go back!

"My husband and I spent a few days here just to unwind. We have not had a vacation with just the two of us in 10 years! The house was perfect for us and the location was right on the beach! The locals were very friendly and the beach was very private. Thank you so much for providing us such an affordable place to stay! We are already trying to decide when we can come back again!!!!!"

Mexico Beach Travel Tips

Mexico Beach is a small coastal community located 20 miles east of Panama City Beach along the Florida Panhandle on the "Forgotten Coast." It's a serene destination on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and offers the small-town atmosphere you're looking for in a relaxing tropical getaway. Mexico Beach is considered a "secret" vacation spot among families and some have been coming here for generations.

Nature's beauty is preserved and the beaches are full of life in Mexico Beach. Visitors can head out for some shopping or dining and hike through parks and conservancies during their stay. If you want to see the dolphins play at sunset, Mexico Beach is the place to do it. The most favorite pasttime among visitors and locals is swimming in the clear waters.

Mexico Beach Attractions

Beaches: Some of the best beaches in the country are found in Mexico Beach. The sand is made up of nearly 12 different materials and contains quartz crystals. There are no rivers that flow through Mexico Beach so the sand is pure and white, and since it's reflective it doesn't get hot during the summer. Visitors to Mexico Beach get to enjoy 5 miles of the coastline with plenty of public beach access. If you're lucky, you may even get to see a sea turtle. Five endangered species venture onto the shore in Mexico Beach to create nests for their eggs.

Diving: There's easy access to several dive sites off of the coast of Mexico Beach that are perfect for scuba diving, snorkeling and spearfishing. Visitors will enjoy the beauty of the natural and artificial reefs as well as the shipwreck sites. The Empire Mica is a wreck site that will give divers a world-class experience in 105 feet of water. There's also the lumber ship Vamar, which lies 27 feet below the surface near the Bell Shoal area. It's accessible by scuba divers and snorkelers, and is even visible from the surface.

Things to Do in Mexico Beach

Dining: You'll find everything you could want to eat in Mexico Beach. From mom-and-pop eateries to restaurants featuring live entertainment, everyone in the family will find a new favorite food. You can grab fresh seafood from the Fish House Restaurant, Gourmet by the Bay, Killer Seafood or Regan's Pub and Oyster Bar. Or you can choose to relax at Caribbean Coffee, Graba Java Internet Cafe or Sharon's Cafe.

Shopping: If you're looking for a place to shop 'til you drop, head to stores along Highway 98. There's a wide variety of offerings such as gifts and souvenirs as well as other little stores tucked away in motels and restaurants. You can find gifts at Beachwalk Beachwear and Giftware, Frost Pottery Garden and Gift and The Grove.

Fishing: There are more than 125 artificial reefs in the Gulf of Mexico, which make for one amazing fishing trip. Whether you want to hit the water along the coast or head out for some deep sea fishing, you're guaranteed to have a good time in Mexico Beach. There are three bays for launching and many of the charter boats in this coastal town offer inshore or offshore trips that include your gear and license. Some of the species found at Mexico Beach include king and Spanish mackerel, grouper, red and black snapper, mahi mahi, pompani, speckled trout and redfish.
