  • Fantastic vacation at the Portofino

"We had a fantastic 2 week family vacation at the Portofino. The unit is exactly as pictured, including the wonderful view of the beach. The unit was clean and comfortable. Chuck was great to work with and answered all of the my questions promptly. We had an issue with one of the TV remotes and he came to the unit and resolved the problem within 24 hours. We ate a lot of our meals at the condo (WalMart and Publix over the bridge for groceries) and had all of the cooking equipment and utensils that we needed. He also provided plenty of bath towels for our family of 5. This unit is in Tower 5, which has its own beach access near the pool. It was much less crowded than the main entrance, where they rented beach chairs and umbrellas. Chuck did have an umbrella and some chairs in the unit, but we had brought our own. You do need to cross a street to get to the beach, but we didn't have much difficulty (many cars do not stop when they see you so use caution). The kids enjoyed playing on the inflatables at the sound. We also enjoyed kayaking and paddleboarding at the beach. We kayaked very close to the dolphins that played in the ocean. We also saw a sea turtle with a crab he caught for lunch. My husband and daughter biked nearly every morning. We did purchase the Adventure package and it was well worth the price. We found the pool at the sound very crowded and it was difficult to find an "unreserved" chair. The pool was the same temperature as the air (90) so it wasn't refreshing. They did have live entertainment at that pool each afternoon, though. They had a bar and grill, which were pricey, as well as servers who would bring food and drinks to you at the pool. The resort had a fireworks display on the sound each Tuesday evening (there was live entertainment there as well, which might have been each evening). They also had other activities throughout the week for children such as scavenger hunts and tie dying shirts. The restaurants we enjoyed were the Grand Marlin, Hemingways, Peg Leg Pete's and the Crabs restaurant. Note that the resort will rent waverunners only to those 18 or over. The rental places near the Grand Marlin will rent to anyone 14 or over with a valid ID. I know my 15 year old was bummed he didn't bring an ID. We visited the Naval Air Museum during our trip and saw the Blue Angels practice. That was awesome! I highly recommend this unit and would not hesitate to rent this condo again from Chuck."

  • very nice stay

"I have rented condo's from VRBO lots of times but I have never stayed in a condo that had so much extra to offer. From coffee and filters for the coffee maker, lots of paper towels and kitchen items, board games, magazines and wi-fi. Even toys and chairs for the beach. Wow, this was really nice! Angela made us feel welcome and showed us around even though it was late when we arrived. We really love Pensacola Beach and October seems like the perfect time to visit. I do have a tip for anyone interested. Hemingway's has a $10.00 menu but you have to ask for it. Thanks to that and the $5.00 off coupon given to us by Angela, we were able to have a great meal there for less than $50.00 for three, including non-alcoholic drinks and desert! Also, if you enjoy riding bicycles, Ft. Pickens was a great place to ride. Thanks for making us feel so welcome Angela, hopefully we can come back soon!"
